The system is identifying your card as a hydrocopper, but the firmware you are attempting to load is a standard air cooled bios. That may be causing the issue. The subsystem mismatch seems to be causing the problem the most, but I wouldn't think it would matter as long as it is the same gpu core and such.

I can not see your file names when you screen shot the entire panel. Use snipping tool to get better pictures.

I havent flashed a gpu in over a year, so I may get the commands wrong. I will flash my older gpu's when I get home and see what is missing.

Edited my photos in the previous posts.

I thought the -6 flag is suppose to overcome that? The BIOS I want to load into it is from EVGA support, I do hope they gave me the right one.

It doesn't seem to be working like normal.

Did you do the protect off?

C:\nvflash>nvflash --protectoff
C:\nvflash>nvflash -i1 -6 2990v450.rom

See if that helps.

I think I did. I tried it again just now, same problem.

That is very strange. I am at work right now, but it seems like the card is refusing to take on the air cooled version of the bios, which shouldn't be a problem.

You stated earlier that you haven't been able to find the hydrocopper bios, correct?

I will jump on OCN tonight, and see if anyone in the titan x group has the bios.

That's the weird thing I noticed, this hydrocopper's vBIOS is 84.00.45.00.03. This is unlike other hydro coppers I read about, or owned (my second hydrocopper is fine after flashing a 120% power limit vBIOS), which are all 84.00.1F.00.90
I contacted EVGA support and they gave me 84.00.1F.00.90 vBIOS that has a 2990 ID which I know is aircooled one. IDK if it's because this card in question is made in Germany where as my other card is USA made.

I am using NVFlash-all_checks_bypassed-v5-206-0-1.zip in windows 10 x64 The -6 flags don't seems to work for me, I am getting:

I was hoping the all check bypassed version would work, every version used so far is a no-go.

My EEPROM is only 2048KB though, pretty sure that's what screwed me in the first place.

Changing my nVidia driver didn't work. Same error as before.

Got a new vBIOS from EVGA support, not sure if the first one they sent me is incorrect. I will try flashing it tomorrow since I am going out tonight.

Awwwww yeah, IT'S WORKING!1!!

OK, the reason why NVflash wasn't working was because I was using the cert bypassed version(!), IF you use official vBIOS, you NEED TO USE the non-cert bypassed one. I just read it on overclock.net in a post by JoeDirt himself.

Case closed, now time to flog this Titan X off before Volta drops and get myself a 1060 and learn to mod vBIOS on a cheaper GPU. Thank you to everyone who spent time on helping me with my £400 whoopsy. In this quest, I have flooded my compute twice, almost water damaged a motherboard, a GPU and a PSU and definitely voided the warranty on my PSU because I had to take the casing off to dry it off. Still nothing permanently broken and I even freed up time allocated to fix it this weekend.

P.S. Extra BIG thank you to Sajin to sticking with me from the start of this unfortunate episode.

The 1000 series gpus currently don't accept modified bios unfortunately. You have to get a modified bios from one of the extreme overclockers that are paid to overclock.. and they are pretty stingy with them.

Glad it is working, and that is really good to know that you need the nvidia approved nvflash for nvidia approved bios.

Glad you got it sorted. Very strange that the offical one worked and the cert bypassed one didn't. I reflashed my titan x maxwell back to the stock vbios plenty of times using the cert bypassed one many times.
