Yes and the component that was missing from my system was:

5 - ASMUSBHost_V116261WHQL

In other words, the missing driver.

The sound card is now working and I am actually very impressed with it.

I had an onboard SoundBlaster chip, but when I switched from that to the Nu Audio card there was a distinct improvement of the sound quality.

I don't mean by that, that I liked the sound better (which I did of course) but, not being an audiophile, I can only amorphously describe it as a higher quality of sound coming out of the speakers/headphones.

Some aspects of the card don't appear to work yet - the only lighting effect that really seems to do its job is the Rainbow - but I couldn't care less about that. It is the sound - and I have tried the speaker output, headphone output and the S/PDIF output - and all of them are better than what I had, and what I had was not too (or even none three) shabby to begin with.

The reason why I didn't reply until now was because I was mucking about with the card and connecting it up to test it out and listen to it.

So all in all it was well worth the wait and frustration.

My speakers are the iLoud Micro Monitors - don't be put off by the name (as I originally was) - which are probably the best desktop speakers you can buy for a reasonable price. I got them for £217 - normal price £280. If you are looking for really unobtrusive desktop speakers then get these. They don't look great, but the way they are built, in the event of a nuclear holocaust only they and the cockroaches will survive

My headphones are the 1More Triple Driver Over-Ear headphones, which don't actually have three drivers (two actual drivers whereby the tweeter and the woofer speakers have a long fall off and crossover at 10Kh and a bass reflex passive radiator) which I consider to be the best headphones you can buy for the price. I got them for £123 - normal price £210

As it was I couldn't possibly recommend the Nu Audio card to anyone, as it is I couldn't possibly not recommend the Nu Audio card to everyone.

So yes, you can take it that I am very happy.

I'm having issues with the Nu Audio software.  I downloaded the drivers exactly as described in the forum (and redownloaded them twice to make sure).  The audio output is working for the card, but I cannot seem to access the Nu Audio software.  Whenever I click on the Nu Audio desktop app, nothing happens, but in the task manager I can see the Nu Audio open up in background processes.  I've tried toggling my anti-virus off and on.  I'm currently running Windows 10 with a Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra.  I also made sure to connect the card to a molex cable directly from the psu.  Not sure if I'm missing something obvious, any help is appreciated.

You said you connected the card to a molex cable.  The card needs to be connected to a SATA connector, which is what you may have meant.

Did you check the system tray in the task bar to see if the software icon shows up there?

Thank you, I guess it was something simple.  I can only get to the app by left clicking it in the system tray and then choosing open.

Yeah.  It's one of the QoL items I've asked our software team to change in the near future.  For example, it would open up on the desktop until you manually choose to have it opened minimized to the system tray.

It's frustrating, I know.  I also know you're not the only one who's had the same experience.

Hello
When will we have compatible drivers, connecting by toslink, with dolby Digital and DTS?

My computer wont let me download the driver, F-secure blocks it and claims it contains a Trojan.

Could you clear this (presumable) false positive with them?

Hello and Welcome to the Forum
It normal some Antivirus protection do stop this software! This because it won't let you install software for hardware so you will need to disable F-secure for few mins after you have installed latest NU Audio Driver Release. When you have done then re enable your F-secure running normal!!

Thanks for the welcome! And sorry if I come across as an **** - you probably only mean well - but I don't think you have any clue what you're talking about.

My antivirus software is stopping me from saving the file to my harddrive. The most probable cause for this is a false positive - easily remedied by EVGA contacting F-secure about this (usually resolved within a couple of days) and sending them the file in question for review. For all I know, EVGA could've hidden a trojan in their software... I am quite sure this isn't the case, and it's not the first false positive from F-secure I've seen in my career.

It is not normal for Antivirus to stop you from downloading softare from legitimate and reputable sources - if you often get virus warnings you're probably frequenting virus-ridden sites... :p

Oh - and on an additional note. If I disable Antivirus, download the file and upload it to Virustotal, 7 out of 61 Antivirus companies list it as a malicious file. Also - Windows Smartscreen won't let me run it either because of it having an "Unknown Publisher".

Again - I'm quite sure it's a false positive, but you guys (EVGA obviously) should get this remedied. It seems your drivers suffer from quite a few issues anyways, and while I can understand that you're new to this Audio and Driver business, I would expect a bit more from such a well esteemed company (please don't lead us into the Creative Soundblaster driver-hell). At least sign and package your drivers properly...

Hi everyone.  We should have a new driver (hopefully) tomorrow.  If the issues still persist after that, please let me know and I'll look into this further.

Not sure what time I'll get the driver up tomorrow, but this is something to look forward to:

Please note that the Master Volume Mute, with this driver version, is the Line-Out Mute.  There's currently no "Master Mute" that is available in the software.  We'll be adding that back in a future update.
