Can y'all start signing your installation packages. I shouldn't have to disable my security settings just to get a driver installed. The previous utility was not giving me any prompt for updating. After the installation there were no issues to report but I didn't see any kind of firmware update. The only improvement I see out of this utility is that the interface's EQ sliders don't have any lag or glitching.

Following up on this with our software team.  I noticed this when recently installing the driver again.  The next version will be properly completed.

I ordered the card today and wanted to download the drivers and I have to say that EVGA has done a bang-up job of hiding them - and also the link to the software.

I have Windows 7 and so a link to the Win10 driver doesn't do me all that much good.

This is really disappointing, I mean EVGA put a load of effort into the marketdroid/salescritter bumf, but would it kill EVGA to give just a soupçon of a crap about those who have actually bought it and want to get it to work??

Hello,

Because we have yet to provide an updated driver for Win7/Win8, I did not include them in this thread.  When we do receive an updated driver version, I will add them here.  I apologize, but didn't realize you'd run into problems finding the drivers.

The driver works a treat. The JPlay ASIO driver trumps the Nu ASIO driver (I'm sure it will improve). The sound stage and timing is better in the JPlay and this is just unboxed. Let's see where it's at in 100+ hours. I'm used to a JCAT USB card and external Rega DAC R and wasn't expecting to be impressed by the Nu Audio. Audio Note have done their magic. I'm using the RCA to my Woo Audio WA6 tube headphone amp with Fostex Ebony headphone.

What is the suggested burn in time? Apologies if I missed it. Feels sloppy with bass/mid-range and treble not there yet. I'm optimistic!

I have seen a lot of posts about "burn in time" and as a computer techie I don't think it means what you think it means.

"Burn in" with regard to computer hardware refers to the fact that computer hardware is most likely to fail in the first day or so of operation.

The failure rate of computer hardware components is described by what is known as "The Bathtub Curve" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathtub_curve and is also known colloquially by techies as IMS (Infant Mortality Syndrome). Thus when computer builders speak of "Burn in" it means letting the system run under a moderate load for 24 hour or so before shipping it to the customer.

"Burn in" with regard to audio equipment refers to speakers - be it in headphones, IEMs or in actual Speakers - reaching their nominal performance.

This is because speakers are moving parts and they bed in as they vibrate and the time it takes for this to happen and they reach an equilibrium basically varies with the kind of music you listen to. For instance if you listen to very bass heavy music - or as I like to call it "Beats Compatible" - then the woofer will get burned in a lot faster than the tweeter.

Hi folks, with regard to the sound card not working properly or not even being properly recognised, it might be worth taking a look in the BIOS to see what the bclk is set at.

"bclk" refers to "Base Clock" which is the clockspeed that all other hardware uses as its multiplier. For instance a 4.2 GHz CPU runs at 42 times the bclk which should be 100 MHz.

A lot of motherboard manufacturers have recently started to implement a higher bclk value than 100 MHz in the BIOS so that their mobos look better in benchmark tests done by reviewers.

A bclk value higher than 100 MHz has been proven to either corrupt M.2 storage data or even brick M.2 storage media.

How you configure the bclk varies from one BIOS to another, so I can't really give you a one size fits all guide to how it should be done.

Well I got the card, put it in the system, installed the driver and everything is coming up with a runtime error.

So I looked to see what could possibly be the problem and lo and behold

THERE IS NO DRIVER INSTALLED FOR THE ASMEDIA ASM1042A USB 3.0 HOST CONTROLLER!!

****??

THAT'S your problem right there EVGA, and it only took me about five minutes of troubleshooting.

Another user mentioned that the other day, so I've already forwarded this to our team to test.  I appreciate the feedback and confirmation, nonetheless.

For what it's worth, I've also asked our team to do some testing regarding bclock rates to see if we can see if this might be a potential reproducible issue for some customers.

It's pretty simple, just download PCI-Z and run it.

The ASM1042A chip is the interface between PCIe and USB implemented in the card.

If there is no driver for that then the card will not work.

If I were to guess then I would say that the installer is nerfed.

I overclock my system so the base clock change might actually be causing the EVGA NU related instability in my system. Thanks for pointing that out, I would have never considered it.

Any way of blowing that up, your crop of that screen shot is way too small, even on my 27" monitor. Anyone viewing on a mobile device would be SOL

But here's a radical idea, EVGA has to have the Win7 driver for the ASM1042A, so why not just put that up on the site for download.

I think I can handle installing a driver.

But it really is damned annoying that EVGA has put so much effort into the hardware, and the marketdroid/salescritter presentation and ZERO effort into the damned software for the card.

SHAME!

Guess I am now glad to be on Windows 10 1809, but still like Windows 7 over all.
Going to see how well this card is in Plug and Play next week so only Time will tell.

Going to see how well this card is in Plug and Play next week so only Time will tell.

Until EVGA gets their act together and creates a proper driver, with all the necessary components, you are not going to have much joy getting it to work with Win7.

I cannot for the life of me fathom how the hell the Win7 "Driver" actually went gold.

Let's face it, even a minimal amount of testing would have shown that a major component of this software was missing.

I would like to thank you for the efforts you have undertaken.

I had already looked into that, but the drivers you linked to are for the ASM1042 and NOT for the ASM1042A, now they may, or may not, work.

I am however very wary of installing drivers which may cause more problems than they solve.

My system has been running 24/7 for about 1,430 days and I want to keep it that way. I am always very careful with regard to doing my due diligence before installing anything onto my system.

The thing is that after I got my EVGA 1080 Ti SC2 the Precision XOC Software was a piece of unadorned merde for quite some time before it worked reliably in the version 6.2.7 which I now have.

So at version 0.1.0.1 I fear that it is going to take a wee while for EVGA to get its finger out and actually create something decent.

And from what I have seen on this thread, the Win10 driver ain't exactly going gangbusters either

It is all part of the process when putting together our own computers and putting in newer and newer technologies.
The rest of the world just buy Dell's and HP's and Laptops.
I enjoy working with new technologies and working with the companies that are creating the new technology.
If life worked 100% of the time then we would all be hundreds of years old if not thousands of years old.
Meaning if you want new then work with it and the company releasing it.
If you want old and true and do not want to work with it then buy only old and known technologies.

Sound Card Companies
ASUS
Sound Blaster
Turtle Beach
Media Vision (Pro Audio Spectrum was the card I used back in the Day)
Back then you had hell with IRQ addressing and having to use Sound Blaster environment variables because no software support anything else back then.
Also back when we needed to use Jumpers on the Cards.
And now we get to add EVGA to that list of Companies.

There are thousands if not millions of combinations of computers in the world and it can be hard to please them all, and not all are going to be pleased.

And now more than EVER we are being Pushed (Forced) not on hardware but on the Windows OS Platform and that adds even more and more problems for all.

Run a Command Prompt and type Set and Press the Enter Key. I is longer now than ever before.

I would give you that if I had bought a potato, however when I built my system I was very careful in the selection of my parts and I go for stability and compatibility over "benchmarks".

If you look on somewhere like Steam you will see that Win7 still makes up about 30% of the users - which goes to show what an unmitigated piece of crap Win10 is, never mind Win8/8.1.

At the end of the day, when Linux becomes a viable gaming platform - which with the way that Vulcan is progressing should be in about two years or so - you will probably see a mass migration of people from Windows to Linux.

If it were a choice between the EVGA Audio card and Win10 then I would just send the audio card back and get a refund. Because as it stands the Nu Audio just is not fit for use.

We looked into this with Win7, and while the missing ASMedia driver can be an issue for some people, it's not the only potential problem that can cause issues with the Windows 7 driver install.  There are a few other apps/runtimes and missing MS KB hotfixes that could cause an issue for some users.

We should have an FAQ up later today or tomorrow that covers all of these issues, including a download link for the ASMedia drivers.

Yeah and when you do put up a link to the ASMedia driver make sure it is to the right one.

Someone posted links before, but that was relating to the ASM1042 AND NOT the ASM1042A.

Does this make a difference?

Let me put it this way, if you have a motherboard that supports USB 3.1 then of course you are not going to be able to use it with USB 3.1 devices when you install the USB 3.0 drivers.

So please don't waste peoples' time by putting up a link to an ASM1042 driver. Drivers may be backwards compatible - and many are - but, for obvious reasons, forwards compatibility is normally not built into drivers.

So far my experience with this audio card is that it is the Fallout 76/The Verge PC build of hardware.

Meaning that it is an unmitigated disaster.

There have been a few comments like "Why don't you move to Win10?"

The reason why is because I don't want to install something which is a RootKit, MalWare, SpyWare and "every update is an adventure", piece of unmitigated GARBAGE to run my system.

An OS should be subservient to my needs, not something that attempts to dictate them.
