Since I am going to run 2 hybrids in sli, I had to move my h115i radiator from the top of the case to the front where it now sits in a push pull configuration using 4 ML140 fans from Corsair. Due to space limitations I had to take one of my 2 floor mounted ML120s out and I now plan to reuse both of them in place of the fans that come with the hybrid kit and plug them into a fan hub which is controlled by a fan header on the motherboard. Is this a good idea? I am guessing that I can use afterburner to control the fan that's on the card, correct?

Any opinions appreciated.

If you plug the fan into a MB header you need to use the UEFI or your MB's fan control software to adjust the fans.

And yes you will still be able to control the blower fan on the card with afterburner.

There's nothing wrong with using the MB header IMO. -- Play a game for a hour and make note of the average CPU temp. The just set the fan curve on the GPU radiator fan to ramp up when the CPU hits that average temp.

I plugged my fan into a PWM poert and just found a happy medium between sound and airflow, then set it to fixed.  Temps are great and it's plenty quiet for me.  I suppose you could use the CPU or system temp to control the fan speed, but I doubt you'll find a correlation that works for all games.

Sweet, thanks for the answers guys, that's what I was figuring.  I will definitely have to play with fan curves or maybe a static speed, I am sure I will figure it out.  I only have 3" of clearance at the top between the top of the case and the motherboard, so I am not sure if I can do push/pull there as well, would be nice if it would fit.

Sending my FTW2's in tomorrow to trade for the Ti's, hopefully I can get my hands on the Hybrid kits soon.

İf you have H115, then you can try corsair commander mini. commander mini is controlled over corsair link. I am using it for hybrid kit's pull fan. pushing fan is default evga and connected to card header.

Note: evga's default pusher fan has 2 pin connector.

You don't really want separate fan speeds on a push pull setup. Also can link mobo fan speed to gpu temp in speed fan.

I will probably stick to just a push setup for the hybrid radiator. My current problem is that the fans on the bottom of h115i are controlled by it, and the front fans on the h115i are plugged into the hub which on turn is plugged into a motherboard header. Not sure how I can synchronize those. Maybe with Corsair link?

I installed the Hybrid on my 1080 Ti with 2 Corsair ML120 fan and running off a motherboard fan header. I ended up tucking the factory 2pin fan wire underneath the shroud out of the way (looks cleaner)

Hm, I have never been a fan of plugging a splitter into a splitter.  I guess it should be ok since the H115i plugs into the cpu header just to give it the signal that a fan is plugged.  The power cable then plugs into a sata connector which ends up as a splitter on the other side.  I will have to look into that and see what's out there.

    Thanks

That looks great.  Looking at that also gives me hope that the bottom Hybrid hoses should reach the top of the case where I plan to mount both radiators, what do you think, will they be long enough?  Also, did you adjust your cards fan curve at all, and if so, how aggressive do you have it set?

I think the bottom card in SLI would be a tight fit running to the top of the case. You have the same exact case as me too. While gaming, I run the fans at 75% speed, which is right about 1900rpm. It's even quieter than the factory blower cooler. Temps top out at 45C running 4K DSR and all the eye candy turned on.

I hope it fits at the top, one thing is for sure, there will be a lot of hoses criss crossing the center of that motherboard.  If I have to I will just mount one of them where you mounted yours.  What software do you use to control your motherboard fan headers?  Through the bios or something like Corsair link?

I'm running an MSI Z270 Gaming M7 board. I use most of MSI's utility software. All my fan speed control, I do through MSI Command Center.

Gotcha, I tried my Asus software and am not a big fan of it. I called Corsair and they said it was fine to run splitters for the push pull configuration for my cpu cooler. So I will control the fans using corsair link for that and plug all the rest of my fans into the hub which is plugged into the motherboard and set the fans through the bios.

Corsair link can only control fans connected to either H115i or commander mini. It can not control fans on MB header.

You are extremely Lucky you even got a hybrid evga kit. I'm still sitting here not even playing any games because everytime I do, my 1080 ti fe overheats. And there is no stock for the hybrid coolers. Everyone it comes in stock, I am there right away clicking on the link to buy and it's immediately sold out. This is absolutely a nightmare. At least I could play games just fine on my 1080 classified. This was the first and Last time I am ever getting a FE card.

When you say it overheats, you mean it goes to 83c and downclocks itself? That's no reason to not play games, that's what it's supposed to do. Do you overclock it? What's your case cooling situation look like?

^ 84c is the operating temperature of the 1080Ti.

You're only guaranteed the base clock, you should at least be getting that.

Dial up the fan a little and you should have no problem with that FE.  If you do, you may have a defective card.  At stock clocks you should be able to keep the card under 70C if you don't mind a little fan noise.  Certainly 84C should not be a problem unless you are overclocking it pretty heavily.
