Hello my good friends here at the EVGA forums, I once again return to you briefly to make bad takes and whine.

Just yesterday, I received my notification that my queue in line (For over a year now) (I believe several people did) was finally was reached for the EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra super gaming power ggez whatever, at their slightly raised MSRP ($900? $1000 with tax and shipping). Ironically, I recently shelled out for a scalper-priced 3070 which was an MSI ventus 2x which frankly was not very good, but still much better than the 1070 (EVGA black) that I was using. It was fine, of course, too, for my use-cases, but I am doing very well in uni and wanted to treat myself. Of course, being told one can buy a 3080 at $1000 with tax and shipping, there is no way one can refuse this offer. I also much prefer EVGA cards because this 1070 has lasted me years despite some aggressive overclocking, and constant 100% fan speeds for a good deal of time. It has not failed me yet. I think they are quite good.

So for those that don't want to know my anecdote, here is my quick question:

Last time I had a 3080 was last winter (I had to sell it unfortunately, didn't want to, but was in a much worse place), and Precision X1 was absolutely busted. I believe I made some inflammatory remarks on this forum as well, though I will be civil. If I recall, one had to uninstall, then reinstall the old version, THEN reinstall the new one, and suddenly it worked.

What is the most actually stable version right now? I appreciate that EVGA lets you pick from every version, instead of trying to hide old ones. However, I have had horrible experiences in the past with it. But with EVGA 30 series, you need it for the third fan. I would much rather use afterburner, respectfully, but again, that is now not an option, and I really don't want to run two GPU programs at once since that will be very conflicting and probably a bad idea.

Just looking a glance at the current version's thread makes me anxious. I will try the latest version, and eventually report back to check on replies here and to report my findings.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. This may be useful for other people as well. I don't care what the newest updates or whatever do if they break other things. NVIDIA has the same problem, and I rarely update those drivers unless I absolutely have to.

Thanks

p.s. I don't care about fan curves. I set my fans manually from profiles based on my task. Fan curves are annoying.

I've been using the PX1 standalone Ver 1.2.6 for sometime with no issues to report about OC & fan Curves

So far this one that Anthony pointed me to. Everything works as it should that I am aware about mostly the OSD with all the games I played its been off for a hot minute. That has been driving me crazy for weeks to months now lost track of time forcing me to use Afterburner.
