Yes, every 2080ti is missing a memory chip.

I suggest looking at the 2080ti PCB and reviews that have been out for a couple of years. The Titan X(p), Titan Xp, and RTX Titan cards all had full memory modules.

The 1080ti and RTX 2080ti both had one memory module removed by NVidia so that it wasn’t a Titan replication, since the standard pcb was the same on both card respectively within their generations.

Yes that's normal. The only card that has all of the memory chips is the RTX Titan if I remember correctly.

I do not work for EVGA or NVIDIA but in the design for certain GPUs there is room for changes or additions. Sometimes a PCB design might for example have 4 memory GDDR Dimm's when in fact the board might be able to accommodate 8, (4 full slots and 4 empty slots). This gives the OEM the ability to add more GDDR Dimm's in the future. That assumes of course that the power requirements of the board do not need any further changes.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Okay, I just saw on the reference card that that pin is normal. I've never seen that before. Just freaked me out a bit

Yep, that is hotplug feature.

Understandable. Better to ask rather than panic and go through an RMA or something that is more time consuming.

same shorter pin on other gpus and same shorter pins on sata power and data connectors.
they have same purpose - hotplug support. So the shorter pin is never a damage or something.

damaged pin looks like this one:

Well from what I can tell he had the circled memory chip missing and wondered if it was normal, answer was yes, then he had an image of the PCIe bus with 1 area having a shorter contact area then the others, which he then determined that was the same as a reference PCB as well. As far as hot plug support I thought that only pertained to hard drives.

I think you are commenting on the wrong topic entirely. This is about the memory chip on all 1080ti and 2080ti’s that is missing. This isn’t about the pci connector that you keep saying is hot swappable.

pci-e has hot plug support too. but

(plus you need hot plug support both from bios and os, so it is used in servers to swap failed for example sas-controller)
(i think they uses shorter pin as some 'element' of hot plug to prevent gpu damage if you hot plug it in your pc; or maybe it is just standard pins layout and they just don't care)
