Hey all. As per my few other posts, I'm soon building a rig around a Ryzen 9 5950x and with the whole scalper situation, stock for that processor is very very hectic. I live in Quebec City, Canada and we don't have reliable PC Hardware stores like Canadacomputers or Memory Express, and even if I did they would be closed because of the government lockdown (praise Covid). Therefore, I need advice on what would be the best way to buy the 5950x (other than from scalpers on eBay, obviously). I am aware that amazon and newegg have auto-notify features and I already subscribed to those, but chances are that I will be at work when stock comes in on business days and they will have been purchased within 4 minutes. 
As there's no queue to buy those with any retailers here (I love you, EVGA queue system), I wonder if I should just keep hoping on the auto-notify system, or if I should place an order with an online retailer that has a backorder system and that would ship it out to me when my time comes (dreadful).

    Hi, this week I contacted 3 small local pc hardware sellers (no franchises) and none of them had 5950x in stock, nor an ETA from their supplier, nor any way to pre order :( a sad situation

    Honestly, eBay, it might cost you slightly more (Don't go over $200) but take it from someone who just got one after waiting forever on retail bs, (shopblt/newweggshaftl/bestanditsgonebuy/Walmart) you more then likely wont beat the bots unless supplies are stupid good like some AMD site drops have been so maybe hit up those but if your not lucky there i say watch ebay for a nice buy now offer

    I might just end up doing that, thanks for the sub 200$ difference heads-up. I also contacted a very old local pc hardware shop here, and the guy (whom I trust since I've known him for abt 10 years) told me that even if I don't make the eventual newegg/canadacomputers drop, they usually get it at the same time and if I call them within the same day they are able to sell it to me over the phone. That would be dope since as soon as I buy it I can pick it up whenever within 15 days. I think if march doesn't yield a "drop" in stores/online here I'll ebay it :/

    Managed to find a "bundle" deal in stock on newegg (https://www.newegg.ca/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4224083) for 130$ over the 5950x's price, comes with a Corsair 570X case. Am not gonna use the case, but a buddy of mine will buy it from me for 100$. Pretty happy if I get both for that price.
