Well at least DutchForce it did get my hopes up, and motivated me to at least test this new driver.

At least I can report GeForce Game Ready 378.66 WHQL drivers Fold and do not Fail on WUs.
1,300,000 PPD down from 1,800,000 PPD HFM
You will need to test yourself for what the PPD are under this Driver.

I don't expect much performance difference compared to the previous (hotfix) driver 378.57, maybe I will test it later this week.  Even if NVidia would fully support OpenCL 2.0, Stanford has to develop a new FahCore to make full use of all the new features and optimizations.  I've read some time ago that Stanford is developing FahCore22 and I still hope that they will use CUDA again for NVidia GPUs.

BTW: Sorry for being off-topic.

OpenCL 2.0 is Not of Topic in my Book, I was hoping they did finely move up OpenCL 2.0 Not just for Folding but BOINC as well.
I did dump this driver (378.66) and went back to 373.06, sorry (Cool GTX) was going to go back to 372.90 but forgot to.

For Topic so to speak "376.53 Driver Update" After I installed 378.66 I turned off my Reg Hack to see if WUS would try to install 376.53 back on and it did not. I did turn back on my Reg Hack afterwards.

but you convinced me to try the 373.06 and now my Rigs have settled in.

372.90 was working OK, not sure if I just got too many tough WU in a row on all three Rigs, or the core_18 update was not as nice to 372.90 driver

I was going to see or test the Monitor be Off or On made a difference, I think Core 18 was updated as well.

I am Still Waiting to for this to happen.
"While a slight reduction in performance may be observed, this performance regression should be eliminated when NVIDIA removes the hotfix in forthcoming driver updates."

Not really wanting to Post this but it looks like more and more Windows 10 users are still getting hit with this Driver update.
It looks like all the 3rd Party Tools and Old Reg Hacks are being useless now.

3rd party tools were never needed, reg hacks may be useless, but ONLY because they're not using them... or not using them correctly....  For the record, still happily using 372.90 and Windows Update has not bothered me since before this thread started

That is what I am running as well and can you set the GPU Fan Speed on a 6xx card or higher.
I can set a GTX 550 but nothing after this GPU.
Also with two 550 it was ok but had lots of issues with 2 660 cards so I gave up on trying anything after.
With the last 3 Version of Ubuntu they never got NVIDIA Cards to run well.

bcavnaugh, just wanted to let you know I found this link:

askubuntu.com/questions/42494/how-can-i-change-the-nvidia-gpu-fan-speed

It allowed me to set the gpu fans for my GTX 980 cards.

i actually like mint as i found it much easier to setup and install nvidia drivers on. also i could only figure out how to enable coolbits on a single card and even then i have to set the fan speed every boot :/ wish i was able to find/figure out how to do multiple GPU's automatically...

welp, finally took the time to figure out how to stop windows from re-installing that broken driver so i could stay on 372.90. got tired of seeing Corex21 crashed error windows telling me to close it while that gpu remained idle till i did so. nothing previously mentioned worked until i opened gpedit and prevented driver updates on the gpu hardware id's. ( the second answer here. ) so here is to hoping it stays that way.

This is what I use: Posted in #9 http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2613707
Windows 10 Home users can disable it by creating a 32Bit DWORD called ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate (and under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate if you use a 64Bit Windows 10) and set the value ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate to 1.

This is coming in the NEXT Windows 10 Upgrade Not Update.
This is the best or correct fix, glad the Newer Windows 10 added this.

You are talking about this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
and set the value ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate to 1.
Correct?
It is working on all three of my Windows 10 Pro computers, that is how I stopped the driver update on mine.

yes those did not work. i looked at what you and others posted pics of this and you had a bunch of stuff there but i had nothing there. i had to create those directories in regedit to add the keys. afer many reboots and deleting the update off my pc windows would redownload and install. the only thing that stopped windows was what i mentioned and linked.

Correct you have to create a Registry Key Type of 32Bit DWORD and Called ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate
Most of the hacks we do in the registry we do have to create new Keys what you call Folders.
Any time you make a change in the registry you MUST re-start the computer.

Windows 10 Pro keeps re-installing the latest driver for me.
I have tried the regedit for ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate =1 (both locations in the Register). It even retains the "1" setting after a re-install by Microsoft.
I have tried changing the policy and the "no driver update" in Device installation settings.
Each time Microsoft overrides these instructions and re-installs the driver it wants and not want the customer wants. Of course I then lose any progress made on Folding at the time. Just for the fun of it the system also puts me back in SLI mode and not the  non-SLI mode I was in previously.
Pulling my hair out now!

Edit:
Trying the Driver Rollback as suggested by Microsoft:

I'll update later once I see how that works.

Yes, the Nvidia driver forced by Win10 update is a "standard" install, with sound, 3D, Experience and SLI on by default, and previous settings for GPU performance ignored

Also worth noting, the OpenCL may not fully load, requiring a manual reload of the driver for Folding.

Have you used DDU, to remove old "unwanted" driver ?

Microsoft seems to be indifferent to those that fold for the cure; and continue to hose your settings

Re: Look out Windows 10 Just Forced a 376.53 Driver Update 2017/03/12 11:06:31 (permalink)
Cool GTX

Yes, the Nvidia driver forced by Win10 update is a "standard" install, with sound, 3D, Experience and SLI on by default, and previous settings for GPU performance ignored

Also worth noting, the OpenCL may not fully load, requiring a manual reload of the driver for Folding.

Have you used DDU, to remove old "unwanted" driver ?

Microsoft seems to be indifferent to those that fold for the cure; and continue to hose your settings

Yes used DDU to do a clean uninstall, then followed up with a "clean" install from nVidia. I don't install any 3D functions or Geforce Experience.

OpenCL seemed to install with the Microsoft update, as I was able to Fold after rebooting, after disabling SLI etc.

OpenCL is not coming from Microsoft Updates but from your "install from NVidia" FYI

By Microsoft update, I meant the nVidia package it was installing, as it installed everything from the nVidia options. But thanks for letting me know the specific source.

Anyway, the good news is so far no re-installs of the latest driver from Microsoft, so looks like the "Driver roll back" worked, so far anyway.

I will update this if anything changes.

Edit:
Trying the Driver Rollback as suggested by Microsoft:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3073930/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-driver-update-from-reinstalling-in-windows-10

I'll update later once I see how that works.

I had that exact same issue and this worked for me.

welp, finally took the time to figure out how to stop windows from re-installing that broken driver so i could stay on 372.90. got tired of seeing Corex21 crashed error windows telling me to close it while that gpu remained idle till i did so. nothing previously mentioned worked until i opened gpedit and prevented driver updates on the gpu hardware id's. ( the second answer here. ) so here is to hoping it stays that way.

I had tried that method as well, didn't work for me. Fingers crossed it does for you.

Yes it worked for me. I watched as windows downloaded the update anf it failed to install. I can not even update the graphic drivers myself as it errors every time.

Is there any way we can plead EVGA to create a semi-permanent version of 372.90 for folding? Maybe label it 999.99 so it never gets overwritten (I'm not a programmer, so not sure how Win10 and Nvidia checks for driver version number)... And maybe give an option during installation to leave out 3D, sound, Experience, and SLI? Got 8 cards folding right now, and this Win10 driver update issue is just soul-crushing...
