Looking for a no frills gaming keyboard. This seems pretty decent? I was actually considering the Logitech G710+ even though it is complete overkill. But, it is mechanical. Reading reviews though. It seems to have a lot of backlight issues. That turned me off from it.

I would be looking at the coolermaster keyboards if you want a no frills keyboard.
About as no frills with backlighting as you can get right now.
http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16823129013 Even has a Promo code.
This the board I have http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16823129002
Probably use this till it dies. Takes a little bit to get used to not having a NumPad but it's nice not having as it saves space on my desk. Although it is not backlit, so it could be a deal breaker for you. If you do not know much about mechanical I would suggest looking into the different switch types, as each color feels and sounds different.

Yeah CM keyboards are the best bang for your buck.  The QuickFire Rapid, QuickFire Stealth, and Trigger are all top quality Costar boards, and the Trigger is decked out with bells and whistles which is probably overkill for you.

The QuickFire TK is good, build quality isn't as good as the Rapid or Stealth but the keycaps are much nicer-feeling than the Rapid's, and the TK has a backlight unlike the Rapid/Stealth.  Mechanical keyboards are the only ones with good backlighting; an LED under each key, unlike Logitech's crap (excluding their mechanical model, which still isn't worth the price from what I've read).

I got the G710+ and have had zero issues, this keyboard is absolutely amazing.
I even got it locally at Fry's and even price matched best buy amazing price at $107, so i got a huge deal.

It is mechanical, but i was using an old Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000. I too was in the mids of looking for something new, and most of my friends told me try mechanical, and all i have to say is I'm quite pleased, well worth it.
Try and get some hands on with these types of keyboards, learn the different Cherry MX switch's the 710+ hits it right in the middle for me, great feel with little noise to annoy you with.

Might go with CM Trigger blue. $30 bucks off and $30 additional rebate. Sounding pretty good atm and a quality keyboard it seems.

Wow so with the rebate that's like 50% off... definitely too good to pass up.

I do have the Logitech G710+ and Logitech G13.

Currently I have returned the G710+ cause of backlight bleeding and wait for another one.

Both of them feel much better for gaming than my Cherry Evolution for 25€.

The G13 is very nice with its display. It feels nice but you have to get really used to it.

The G710+ feels much better then the G13. I actually miss it a lot. a mechanical keyboard is really different. it is very loud and keys remind me of the C64 times. After a weekend playing with it the normal keyboards at work feel like a real pain. I can really recomend it. HOWEVER there are like 5 different Cherry MX mechanical keyboard variants. I never tried another one. But read a lot about it. You should too! Compared to others the G710+ has some multimedia keys, like mute.

How is CM customer service? How is their software? Never bought a CM product before and this would be my first. I actually have a new mouse as well. Logitech G400s. Would that cause a problem with 2 different products and software?

Never had to deal with the customer service, but you do not need any software for the keyboards. They are just plug and play. Unless you get a keyboard that has Macro keys. Then maybe you will need some software.

From what I've heard, their customer service is excellent but I have no experience with it.  But they also have active representatives on forums such as this one, and they all supposedly respond quickly to PMs or whatever.  And no, the Logitech mouse won't cause any problems since they're separate devices.  The Trigger has software but I believe it's optional, and you can bind functions to the macro keys on the fly since it has onboard memory.

I got both the G400 mice (replied to your other post) and the 105 keyboard and they are both excellent feeling and functioning

I have no idea which type of switch the 105 uses for its keys but they are responsive and quiet so I think it is browns... They are anyway fantastic feeling and I do not regret the persuase at all all though I will upgrade to a Strike 7 when I finally get the money to build my new computer

Logitech G105?  It's a normal POS rubber dome keyboard, no mechanical switches at all.

I lagged on the CM Trigger Blue and it sold out by the time I went to buy it. Don't shoot me. I went with the Logitech G710+ Definitely appreciated the comments and recommendations. First mechanical keyboard for me. Never used one before.

Could have gotten a WASD or Leopold for that price.  Still, any mechanical keyboard is at least 100x better than any rubber dome.

Just got it a few hours ago and wow. This thing is really nice! Loving it so far. Seems to be built like a tank and really heavy. The bottom optional plastic piece is really cheap though. For $150 dollar keyboard. I expected much better and possibly be rubber. That is my only complaint. I never want to use a regular keyboard again. Now I see why so many people love mechanical keyboards. Night and day difference.
