Personally, I'd go back in time, invest in tech stocks I know work and then come back to the future with a pocket full of cash and then bribe EVGA to send me stuff. :)

Guys did you notice edges on X299 Dark.
That's K|NGP|N's board, no doubt.
Look strong same as X79 Dark.

Here is some video posted before month, from Hardware Canucks and you can see how board is build very fine, you could notice details.

MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IS BECAUSE NOW YOU DON'T NEED TO INVEST 450$ FOR MOBO AND THAN TO BE SAD BECAUSE SHE WORK ONLY WITH INTEL CORE 4 CORES AND INTEL XEON 4 CORES, LIKE MAXIMUS MOTHERBOARDS OR OTHER BOARDS WITH Z170, Z270 PCH.
NO YOU CAN BUY CPU WITH 8 CORES (JUST TO BEAT DAMN RYZEN) AND FOR 3 YEARS TO BUY PROCESSOR WITH 12-14-16 CORES. YOU COULD DO THAT AND BEFORE WITH INTEL XEONS, BUT THIS IS FAR BETTER BECAUSE NOW THEY COULD BE OVERCLOCKED. IMAGINE 14 CORES ON 4.5GHz.
THAT'S REASON WHY GOOD MOTHERBOARDS WITH X299 CHIPSET ARE IMPORTANT. YOU WILL NOT NEED TO INSTALL XEONS TO EXTEND LIFE TIME OF PLATFORM, AND PERFORMANCE WILL BE COMPARABLE WITH BEST TO INTEL XEONS.
CAN YOU IMAGINE 60-70% STRONGER CPU THAN i7-980X for X58 CHIPSET,  OWNERS OF X58 CLASSIFIED WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THAT. MAYBE NOT NOW, BUT BEFORE 2-3 YEARS YES.
IF I WISH X299 BECAUSE SOME REASON THAT'S TO REVENGE TO AMD RYZEN WHO BEAT MY i7-5820K WITH THEIR RYZEN 5.

i will have them all
i will proly settle with 10 or 12cores - depends on 12core clocks

dark had this silly fan and i am worried it will be noisy
apex does not have u.2 and i use u.2 drive for storage... so it is a must as the drive itself is more expensive than a motherboard
thats why if it is going to be an asus its gona be extreme

but i am still hoping for ftw-k to pop out 1st

Eh... I like the Dark series but I also like the FTW. I'm getting old and I find the only bling I can look good in is flashing colors (and bald head, fat stomach and gaudy Hawaiian shirts). :)

X299 Dark is nicer. I always liked motherboards with fans on them.
No, don't worry even before 5 years EVGA had fan on Z77 FTW I hear nothing 3 years.
Absolutely same as motherboard without fan.

X299 Dark best fit with GTX1080Ti FTW3 Hybrid or 1080Ti K|NGP|N Edition.

That silly fan is active cooling for the M.2 drives quite ingenious. I do not use or intend to use U.2 connection so not a issue. I am looking for a board to drive my i9-7980ex as fast as possible to bench mark. So I believe these two boards fit the bill. I would say a FTW-K or Cassified board will be second generation and a year before launch.
