It does look pretty good. I'm curious what the price will be at launch.

It is a 2560 x 1440 screen so the price shouldn't be too outrageous.

I'll wait for some real user reviews before thinking seriously about it. The price isn't bad and specs are decent from what they show on Amazon's site.

Release date August 9th, 2019. This monitor looks really good based on available specs, and for $499.99 ( Amazon) it's reasonable if it performs as well as the specs portray. At 27" and 2560x1440 it's an ideal sized desktop gaming/productivity monitor imo, IPS for good color reproduction (which is often where TN falls flat), 1ms response (confirmed by UL, which makes it believable, and is a significant improvement on prior IPS displays), 144MHz refresh rate.. this sounds like it could be what I've been waiting for.... Some good links for specs: LG 27GL850ASUS PG278Q (popular similar-spec gaming monitor to compare, but TN) ASUS PB278Q (decent PLS color panel to compare, but 60Hz refresh) Color is far better on the LG than the P G278Q (135% sRGB vs 93.9% sRGB, and 30bit vs 24bit). Viewing angles also a little better on the LG. Same specs on both: Refresh rate (144Hz), Brightness (350 cd/m), static contrast (1000:1), response time (1ms), pixel density (109ppi), pixel pitch (0.233mm). So it appears the new LG is like a PG278Q with much improved color.. exactly what I've been looking for. One possible negative is that IPS often don't have as deep blacks as TN, which can be a real pita at times. Will have to see what reviews are on the LG once it's out in the wild on that point...

so much for $500. didn't realize preorders meant cheaper. now at $700 https://www.amazon.ca/dp/...QF?tag=price0395_ca-20
Those are basically 3rd party scalpers. They reserved a bunch of monitors for $500 (or will just get in line like everyone else), but make a 50% gain by pretending they have it 'in stock' or claim can get it sooner. See it all the time with new tech. Don't ever buy from them.

I'm so jealous for you. I want that screen so bad because it's IPS but it's basically the same as my Dell but in TN panel. I've ordered stuff from bhp before. They're pretty decent. Just make sure it's not during a jewish holiday or nothings moving.

I cancelled the order after I watched this review. gonna wait for some more info. im in no hurry https://www.youtube.com/w...t6JxuEQhU18&t=398s
Because of the lack of a USB-C? Or the lack of pivot (which is definitely weird not to have)? I saw a thread on Reddit with a few comments about this monitor not being what it's made out to be, but I've lost the link now. I guess it's prudent to wait until it's out in the wild for a bit - let someone else be a guinea pig / beta tester for LG ;) Good review, thank for the link. The questionable 1ms rate is interesting.. like he said, it's like they added it (the "fastest" setting) just to say it could do it, even though the ghosting is really bad at that setting. HDR is crap too - local dimming issues means poor darks. If it sounds too good to be true... sigh.

I guess I jumped the gun as well. If it's too good to be true, it might be just that. lol
To be fair with the comparison in this video, the Asus costs more than the LG.

Some pretty good reviews on Amazon now. All reviews so far saying minimal or no backlight bleed, which is great to hear. As suspected, the 1ms response time for gaming is a load of crap - there *is* a 'fastest' mode that will give that 1ms response rate, however it's confirmed that it results in 'inverse ghosting' aka coronas, so it's basically useless and is likely just there as an advertising gimmick. Color gamut is very good, and apparently the blacks are quite dark, although being IPS it's not going to be perfect. It's also true that the stand doesn't swivel (side to side).. kind of strange, but that's how it is. It has vesa mounting holes so you can always use an aftermarket stand if swivel matters to you. In summation, all reports so far say it's still a very good monitor for the money, but view it as having a standard 5ms response time, much like most IPS panels in this market. Good color reproduction, 144MHz refresh rate (not overclockable apparently), brightness not bad, and apparently decent quality panels with low instance of backlight bleed *yay*. I am seriously considering it, although none in stock anywhere that I can find, but you can pre-order at B&H.

I've received Amazon's notifications 4 times for this monitor coming back into stock over the last few weeks, and 2 of those times I was sitting at the computer when notification arrived and checked immediately - it was out of stock again every time. Looks like there's a very high demand for these monitors now, and only one report of significant backlight bleed issues so far. I'm actually wondering if it was the same bad monitor being returned each time I got notification lol.

I have been waiting several months for the LG 27GL850-B to be released. I read some reviews on this monitor, but I am still having a hard time figuring out if this is the best monitor for me. When the LG monitor was announced, it said with G-SYNC, but now its only G-SYNC compatible. I mostly play First person shooter games like Pubg and Battlefield, I have got a 9900K, 16GB Ram, and running a 1080ti. Right now I've been comparing these 3, I see that one of them is a TN panel, but I read they have a faster 1ms response. I just don't want to spend all this money and be disappointed. If I should have created a new thread for this question, just let me no.
