What was your temperature? It seems like the kingpin is extremely sensitive to temperature. Also, are you going to use the classified tool? It seems like adjusting the voltages in the classified tool is what really pushes this card to its limits.

I don't intend to run it cooler than ambient. Do you think classified/evbot would help me? Also what temp are you curious about? Looks like my latest run peaked at 48C. Fans are already 70%, not sure running higher will help since I'm wondering if the card is already power limited.

I'm wondering if my firmware update failed and that's negatively affecting my score. I installed new PX1 1.1.2 and was prompted to update firmware (I was previously running 3090 FTW3Ultra with v1.1.1. Everytime I thought KPE firmware was updated PX1 would prompt me again to update firmware. After 5 tries of this I uninstalled PX1, restarted PC, then downloaded and installed again. On the new install it only prompted me once for firmware update which felt normal but I'm noticing I don't actually have LED control through PX1 right now so maybe my firmware is bugged. How can I tell what firmware I have?

I see. I was just curious about your temperature for these results and it is a reasonable temperature. Yeah I believe the classified tool would help you to push it even further on ambient BUT BE CAREFUL! As FAR AS I KNOW YOU CAN DAMAGE THE CARD IF YOU PUSH THE VOLTAGES HIGHER THAN WHAT THE CARD CAN TAKE. SO USE THE CLASSIFIED TOOL IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IT OR IF YOU FIND GOOD INFORMATION ONLINE ABOUT IT (personally I don’t know how to use it and I’m a scaredy cat I wouldn’t want to ruin my shiny new card in the process).

Try version of PX1. It's v1.1.2.1 which isn't on the download page yet. Jacob linked it on twitter after someone else was having your same issue. Edit: Nvm I can't post the link. Check Jacob's replies on twitter to find it.

Downloaded and installed v1.1.2.1 on Jacob's tweet, wasn't prompted to update KPE firmware, still can't control onboard LED, and still haven't beat air-cooled FTW3Ultra :D

48C under load is great for an AIO IMO. My 2080 Ti on air under load is 64C. You have the LN2 BIOS in use? You confirmed it's at 520W Power Limit? That's what I believe the LN2 Bios is supposed to be at and I'm sure their will be another BIOS with a much higher limit. I think you need more power or you need voltage control from the classified tool. The tool has some very important sliders that are needed and should really make the card shine. Of course, these should work out of the box, but they may need to fix PX1 and clearly provide the tool. Have you ran any Port Royal?

Highest i was able to get on my KP on PR is 14,850 with the LN2 bios. My 3090 ftw3 ultra gets 14,600 on PR. That's a 1.7% difference in performance. 1.7% is a low enough number that I can say that it is likely due to chance or silicon lottery and not engineering differences.

Creek is sitting at 15039 on PR with his KP on the LN2 BIOS, so there is probably some silicon lottery happening amongst KP cards.

Any idea what he has turned on and off? I turned off a lot of stuff and put all the settings in Performance mode (gpu and cpu). I actually didn't turn off Windows font smoothing and stuff, so I may be able to keep over the top of 15k as well if I turn off that and other Windows settings.

Not that it matters much, as I am still basically getting the same performance between my FTW3 Ultra and the KP. IOW, all the extras on the KP aren't really accomplishing anything with water that isn't already being accomplished on air. Not sure what is holding both of these cards back from being pushed closer to engineering tolerances, unless the tolerances are excessively small.

It didn’t look like thermal throttling was the bottleneck as far as I could tell, and Queue’s temps seem really low, too. So I wonder if the AC unit was really the deciding factor.

Yeah, that can be done with both the KP and FTW3 Ultra, or any card for that matter, and see small upticks in performance. I think the key here is that with all the extras, the KP isn't really accomplishing anything extra with water over what the FTW3 Ultra can do on air. Why is that? Is it the same issue people are seeing with XOC bios and performance? Is it a fixable Bios issue or hardware issue. This card is sort of useless to me if it doesn't benefit from watercooling and only exceeds on LN2. That's some odd scaling.

For me at least, I’m hoping that one place where the KP will shine is with its higher quality power delivery components that won’t pop and brick the card after two days like my and so many other 3090 FTW3 Ultra’s have done since launch. I’m willing to pay extra for a card that I don’t have to worry about dying while sitting at idle.

Is it the same issue people are seeing with XOC bios and performance? Is it a fixable Bios issue or hardware issue. This card is sort of useless to me if it doesn't benefit from watercooling and only exceeds on LN2. That's some odd scaling.
Are you hitting the power limit in GPUZ?

I really doubt it actually sold. Scalper can have multiple ebay accounts and flip products back and forth to make people on the fence think there are people buying at those prices.

Very sad indeed. LOL, 5-6k! I have to laugh at that. Why not just charge 10k?
