Hello,
So... this is a last hope kind of post.
I bought last november an X299 Dark on the second hand market for the 10980XE release, so far so good I got the board and everything was fine .. until I noticed last week when trying to test all my components before going under water, that my board didn't had the 2066 ILM installed but had the 20XX legacy backplate installed.
Previous owner apparantly used a direct die mount and had to use 20XX legacy backplate.
Problem is that the original backplate wasn't shipped with the board, and he can't find it, great. So right now, I can't install my 2066 waterblock and have no solution.

This is the part I'm trying to get / buy : https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/291632136853651456/665556061687644160/image0.jpg

This is my board right now : https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/291632136853651456/665514679430414346/image0.jpg

My waterblock need to be mounted like this : https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/318170215928037386/666314179900342312/unknown.png

I contacted EVGA support, but so far it didn't go far (no stock, ask waterblock manufacturer for a backplate ..., but 2066 waterblock don't come with a backplate since the mounting system is integrated).

What can I do ? Can I use an other ILM from a dead x299 board even if its not the same mechanism (like this : https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/318170215928037386/666312545438793748/P_20200113_100742.jpg) instead of the backplate ? How can I be 100% sure it will be compatible ?

Thank you in advance

Let me check with our Motherboard team for options.  Unfortunately, I doubt that we have spare parts that we can assist you with, but let me see if we can help you to figure out what you need to get yourself up and running.

Are you looking for the metal blackplate that is visible on the backside of the motherboard? The silver metal backplate shown in this image, https://images.evga.com/products/gallery/151-SX-E299-KR_XL_6.jpg? I would think that you should be able to just use any X299 backplate... pretty sure they follow a standard set by Intel so it should work. Maybe @EVGATech_Lee can confirm?

    Hi jasoncodispoti,
Yes this is the backplate I'm looking for. Others X299 boards dont use this system, they use a 2011 backplate with the 2011 ILM like this : https://www.molex.com/pdm_docs/sd/1051428100_sd.pdf
If someone from EVGA can confirm that I can indeed use the ILM linked in the link, then I should be able to buy one

I'm pretty sure this particular one isn't compatible.
