I am considering picking up a 3090 through the DIY configurator. When I get to add a power supply, I was presented with a dizzying selection of GA, GT, GQ, etc, so many different lines of EVGA PSUs, all with a 10-year warranty. I am considering the 1000-1200 watts PSUs, Gold or Platinum, but I am just not sure of the hierarchy of the different product lines. Given that JonnyGuru site is no longer there and there are probably scant reviews of PSUs, is there a basic guide or summary of the various product lines, or something such as GT > GQ > GA?

Thanks in advance.

some information EVGA POWER SUPPLIES  Note the links to articles @ bottom of page under "Learn more about EVGA’s full lineup of power supplies here."

Press Releases - gives you a manual way to see a timeline & find articles on different products

No other guide per say by type or comprehensive deep dive reviews for all PSUs in one Wattage family, that I have seen

from product page select the "compare button"  & see some comparisons

EVGA library of product Specs page,  EVGA items are found, might make opening several PDF spec sheets a little easier

I do know the different ratings, Titanium, Platinum, Gold, etc. It is just that EVGA has too many product lines and I cannot tell which is a better PSU (better capacitor, OEM, etc). I can't go by the price either because some of the Gold units are more expensive than the Platinum because the Platinum units happen to be on sale. They now have P2 and P3 Platinum, I would think P3 is the latest and better made?

Just another idea, you can go to a site like Newegg and use their "filter" (filter EVGA) and then "compare" options to better understand and hone in on a PSU that fits your needs.

The compare feature gives a good quick overview/breakdown of the general basics regarding all the different PSUs out there.

Some good tips and info here, but looks like the only way to be sure is to dig in and search each product line one by one. One thing I read somewhere is that the GT line seems to use HEC as the OEM. I think I will pass on that one.

I am only researching 1000-1300 watts, Gold, or higher ratings. I think I understand the different lines and naming conventions now. EVGA is using different lines and names to differentiate the different OEM, except for the G5 and P5 lines due to tariffs.

The P+ is supposed to replace the P2. The OEM appears to be FSP. The P+ line does not seem to be good. Tend to have coil whine at load.

The GT line seems to be from HEC platform.

The G+ line replaced the G1/G1+ line. The OEM for both is FSP.

G2 and P2 line - OEM is Superflower

G5 and P5 line - The original OEM was (supposed to be?) Super Flower, but due to tariff, EVGA switched to using FSP. There have been reports that this line is subpar -

I think I know which one to get now.

Either the P2 1200 or G2 1300 from the DIY Configurator. I had bad experiences with the G2 1300 as I am on the third one now. First one died with a loud pop, second one had issue coming out of sleep and BSOD occasionally. The one I am using now is the third from RMA, so I am quite hesitant to get it again. I also think the P3 1200 is made by FSP or HEC, hence the lower price.

Edit: I may also get the 1000w P5 or G6. 1000w should be enough for my setup as well.
