Thank you for posting the manual so quickly! With the first wave of boards having shipped out (and mine arriving today, yay!), is there an ETA on getting all the z790 bios/drivers posted as well? I know it comes with a USB drive but still. :)

Will the boards be avaiable in EU?

Mine arrived today too, too fast for me as the CPU, RAM and other parts won't arrive until Wed/Thurs lol.
Came here to look for drivers in preparation for the build too.

Board looks amazing though, can't wait to build it.

I have been wondering my self. You can't even order any EVGA board on Amazon Germany they won't even ship it to The Netherlands!!! Nonsense! Germany is RIGHT next Holland...And then we have EVGA EU website one of the GREATEST TROLL sites period. Enough people voiced their complaints yet EVGA completely ignores them for a company that takes great pride in customer service this is a hard pill to swallow. And no official (that i know of) representative from EVGA can shed light why this EVGA EU site still exist get rid of it ok? It's ok if a site has issues 1 or 2 weeks but YEARS and YEARS with no stock of anything worth purchasing ie MB, PSU and GPU's.

Why is it that loyal costumers get greeted by a site that's EMPTY i want to buy the Z790 boards or even the Z690 i can't. EVGA EU has a phone number but...not working. This shows you the state in EVGA EU. I have voiced my voice directly to Jacob but no stocks yet which is understandable. I just wish there was a form of tickets for loyal EU costumers so they can get it at a FAIR price. Im a bit disappointed obvious the USA market gets priority albeit they forget there is a relative large fan base in Europe as well don't forget them EVGA!

For the First time in over 10yrs I don't have a EVGA MB or GPU running in my main system. Bums me out. Still have the 1300 G2 powering the box though. I miss the Good O'l days when I could go on my Favorite companies site and just click what I wanted and be done. Haven't seen those days since the first RTX 20 series. Hoping someday it will be like that again.

Pretty pissed off they didn't notify people who signed up for it. Not an encouraging sign for things to come.

I don't understand why the kingpin omits USB4 (which is basically thunderbolt) when the classified has it? That's a major feature downgrade on a more expensive board.

at the risk of repeating this every time they release boards, the kingpin is an extreme overclocking motherboard. it features a 2 dimm design, rotated socket, and IO designed to accommodate extreme overclockers (PS2 ports and Legacy SATA for running older OS)

i realize people will buy this board and complain it isn't fit for their daily high end consumption needs, but the board was built to break overclocking records, not to be the core of a video editing or design workstation.

this gen finally has 10Gbe NICs tho, so let's celebrate the wins instead of looking for every shortcoming, hm?

Congrats over there for the guys at the US!  And for the rest of us, could we get at least some sort of answer about the foreign market?

Glad you guys were able to get your boards.  I ended up cancelling the Asus and went with the MSI board as it was available and gave me 5 onboard nvme slots so I'm up and running Intel again.

MSI MEG Z790 ACE, Intel i9 13900k, G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32gb 6600, ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 420 ARGB in push/pull, Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC, EVGA Nu Audio, Samsung 990 & 980 Pro's, WD SN850X & Black hdd, EVGA Supernova 1300 G2, Windows 11 Professional, Thermaltake Level 20 XT w/Antec Prizm X 120mm argb fans

A little unboxing of the D4RK if anyone is curious...  Its nothing special, so don't expect a lot.  If anyone wants any more detail etc let me know! Doing a time-lapse of the build I'm doing now.  Slow going for sure.

https://youtu.be/pGfKBpLHi0Q

Two things I'd like to see, would have been nice to have a single USB 4 out for additional GPU out support.  I'll be using two HDMI out from the GPU for VR / Projector, and was hoping to run a third monitor as a small 8" LCD for readouts, may just have to disconnect VR when I want to have it up.  An additional header or two for external temp and a flow-sensor header.  I have an Aquaero here, but im considering abandoning the flow meter etc as I'd like to use the motherboard standalone...

Many of us are indeed waiting to see the first independent official reviews, actual performance data and tangible feelings of the new Z790. This making we wonder when EVGA will actually release a representative Z790 MB batch to a few legitimate reviewers. Not to 'disguised storefronts' and friends of advertiser reviewers like TechPowerUp and or Tom’s Hardware. In my judgment not many will readily jump and or purchase a $800 MB prior to at least seeing some real performance data being provided and a deep dive into the specifications. Then a solid comparison to the Z690 KP confirming the real pro and cons in owning either MB! Q&A: Will a quick Z690 BIOS flash give you a bigger bang for the buck? There were also statements made in why EVGA continues to releasing their Z790 MB’s this late in the game. Whereby ASUS and MSI for example have pushed their MB’s already 5-months ago onto the retail shelves? I was also mentioned that with the recent EVGA divorce from NVIDIA that sales and cash flow for EVGA is now of the utmost concern. Thoughts?

go on over to overclock.net    Plenty of people with z690s discussing their overclocks,  Especially memory.   From what I can gather, the z690 limits to about 7400-7600 on memory modules and the z790 can reach up to 8200 on air cooling, more on water (8400, 8800) and even the new record of 9200 mhz on ddr5 using LN.   There's also some videos on the z790 on youtube.    Personally,   I really like the board.  I have a rock solid stabile 7600 on memory and am working currently on 7800.  But I am not a benchmark person anymore,  I mainly push what I can on water cooling and leaving it as my daily.  I really needed a board with 10 gbe, which is why I bought it.  I already have 10 gbe set up on my NAS devices and plex server.  I don't have performance data, because I personally don't do that anymore. But I've had mine a week or so and I am just getting my memory dialed in along with CPU oveclocks.   It will do 5.7 easy and many run at 5.8, Which I tried but didn't push it long enough for stability.   A few run at 6 GHZ.

i have a question for the EVGA tech moderators about the Z-790 Dark Kingpin (or anyone else that knows owns a z-790 dark kingpin mobo)

with the 14 layer thick PCB what length of motherboard screws do you need? or is the overall thickness the same as regular motherboard pcb's? and with the backplate and all do you need standoffs? i bought the coolermaster haf 700 evo for this build.

no changes needed.  Make sure you align the stand offs to the board's secure locations.  I had a standoff in the wrong place and had to move it.  Otherwise, no changes.

I had decided to skip the Z790 since it appeared a new socket was coming out with Meteor Lake in late 2023 (LGA1851). Now it seems that Intel are having some issues with Meteor Lake development and may not launch any of the Meteor Lake chips until early 2024, and may skip the i9 HEDT Meteor Lake versions altogether!

This would mean the next 'big' HEDT CPU would be Arrow Lake, and that maybe not until H2 2024 if not later - assuming no development issues going forward.

That's a relatively long gap with nothing significant from Intel, and they clearly realized that too, so apparently there is a Raptor Lake refresh on the roadmap due this year (Q3 2023), which will use the same LGA1500 Z790 socket, and probably push the speeds up 100-200MHz from the i9-13900K.

For this reason, I've reconsidered skipping the Z790 and instead will jump in, since it appears it may be good for at least another 18 months.

So EVGA - when are you getting more stock of the Z790 KP Dark??? :)

edit: that refresh apparently is the i9-13900KS, and supposedly being released January 12, 2023...
