vixfall1 3080Ti Such a waste at MSRP $1199. 3090 offers more performance and +8Gb of GDDR6X. 3080 is still a way to go for gamers.
This is exactly what I was thinking. 1.2k for founders is a steep price! Wondering how much will the EVGA lineup GPUs cost, I'm assuming the FTW3 has to be the same, right? It can't be 1.3-1.4k...Psh!
Considering the current ftw3 models are about $1-200 more than founders edition MSRP, it's perfectly reasonable to expect the 3080 ti ftw3 to be at least $1350
If they go % wise I'd expect the xc3 to be 1349 range and the ftw ultra closer to 1449 range. But we will see
I definitely could see that happening, and ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI will probably be in the $1500-1600 range. At this point, I fee like I made a galaxy brain play by picking up an FE 3090 in October. Even though back then I really only wanted an FE 3080
100% galaxy brain the 3090 fe is now a value.... what a world lol

dcd58 Can't wait. Just finished paying off the 3080 ftw. Now I'll have a new note on the TI 😁
I ended up just paying off my 3060xc entirely before any of the affirm payments hit. I want to qualify for Affirm for this crazy expensive card lol.

The only depressing bit is I'll for sure have to hold onto this GPU as if my life depended on it because the next generation will likely still be completely out of whack with prices and availability. So I may need to keep this thing for at least 3-4 years. And 4k gaming is pretty good on it, but it's kinda like when I went for 2k60fps on my old 980ti, it could do it with most games but some titles struggled with it.

it's a possibility but nvidia said there was handshakes between the driver and hardware with new sets of codes. last time nvidia leaked a fully unlocked driver so it was a self own. this time around hopefully they don't make a mess of things again.

Lots would be selling off their cards. I would never buy a used card in this market, you never know if it's been mined to near-death.

My 2080Ti was a XC Gaming (with EK block and retension backplate) and turned out to be a monster. Even with XOC BIOS, hitting a max of 2115Mhz and taking +1000 memory it has always been stable. I'm expecting too much to hit the silicon lottery again, I'm sure, but if I can't land a XC HC I think I'm going to go the same route for the 3080Ti: regular XC with EK block and this time add an active backplate.

Idk, the 2080 ti was a beast overclocker, but this generation the 3080 and 3090 are kinda lacking in that department. SO I wouldn't expect the same gains, but imo I think it's a good idea to just go for the cheaper card when you intend to throw a water block on it. You'd likely get similar OCs. I would think the only card that would really be capable of better OC is if EVGA does a Kingpin for the 3080 ti

I genuinely don't think it's worth it tbh. I would just work on tweaking your 3080 OC to get it to its max. The extra 2gb is pretty minimal. You'd be paying like $5-600 extra to get maybe 8-10% gains

Yeah that has been my MO for a while: cheaper card and a good block. I've always been intrigued by something like a Kingpin but I'm never patient enough to wait to score one.

Who knows, maybe EVGA will bless us with a $1300 XC3 model. But the Founder's Edition is pretty sweet too. It actually benefits both air and watercooled setups because it throws a lot of air across the VRM and system memory if your motherboard doesn't have active VRM cooling. And if you have an air cooler, then it helps facilitate airflow directly into the tower cooler. So it does have its benefits. Only downside being it simply can't draw as much power as an EVGA card with XOC bios. And drawing more than 400 watts over the 12 pin connector isn't really ideal.

Because mining is volatile and creates artificial demand that eventually dries up and only hurts real gamers because they can't get the new cards, and eventually have to settle for miner's 2nd hand garbage.

You're unlikely to be able to get one. Bots are up and running these days, your best bet would be something like trying to score one during a BB drop. The reason EVGA's queues are worth doing is because you actually can get the cards and at MSRP. Frankly, if you have trouble with that pricing, I'd suggest considering the 3070 Ti queue instead. Personally I'm just going to bite the bullet with the 3080 Ti FTW3, this'll cost less than the Zotac 3080 card I almost bought, and be a much better performer. I've failed to even get close to another card otherwise since this started.

travatar Anyone know if the cooling solution between the 3080 FTW3 and the 3080 Ti FTW will have the same? Have an EKWB active cooling system on order and would hate to have to change the order....
that no one will know until the coming days but I'm willing to bet it will be the exact same dimension and such
I have asked the question on twitter myself as I have a waterblock here as have been waiting for my queue to come up, I will report back once I get a reply (Jacob and the gang are good at replying tbf ;) )
Can't confirm compatibility with third-party coolers. I can confirm compatibility for 3080 Ti with our HY and HC coolers.
I rather have the hybrid version and forget about the waterblock🙄, plug and play any day😁
T hose who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way. Affiliate Code: 3T15O1S07G
