It will not allow you to install the wrong Chipset software. It is up to you in the end gtxjackbauer. I have updated all my X79 and my X99 without issues. Everything I can see is that the chipset driver is the basis for all other drivers. I keep mine up to date so that the chipset is operating at its best capacity according to intel specifications. I am sure that leaving it alone will also allow it to work fine as motherboard manufacturers never tell you to update them after the first time.
