So it looks like Intel will roll out a higher spec chipset for coffee lake CPUs in the middle of 2018.

Now that a few more month passed, z390 will most likely bring what z370 was supposed to:
    - Upgraded audio interface (for lower latency)
    - Integrated Wireless/Bluetooth
    - Integrated USB 3.1 Gen 2
    - Improved standby power features

Other say it might even be the platform for an 8 core coffee or cannon lake but I rather doubt that:
    - Even with 2700x Intel still has the upper hand in mainstream desktop performance, so no rush.
    - A coffee lake 8-core will most likely outperform the 7820x (like 8700k killed the 7800x) and render the lower half of x299 pointless. This will happen anyways sooner or later but summer 2018 would be a bit too soon I think.
    - 8 core mainstream is supposed to come with Ice Lake in 10nm and rumor has it that 10nm production still has issues. So 2019 would more likely the year of the 8 and 10 core mainstream desktop CPUs.

Well, I might be happy if I am wrong. Really would love to get an Intel 8 core with TDP around 100W.
