So most of the department she is in gets laid off but it’s discrimination? Seems unlikely if it was a department layoff.

She treats being laid off as different from being terminated, as one implies cost cutting without replacing while another implies finding another candidate. Besides, she said most of her team, not whole department.

The oddity to me is along the lines of wrongfully hiring and being caught justifying the amendment, like when she witnessed a manager and supervisor discussing whether being Latino and not speaking English properly made the company look bad. Seems like those folks shouldn't have been hired in the first place if there was a communication issue, so how would a company make up for it without flat-out discriminating? They can't.

But because she brought up this discussion and other things related was going on, she was let go, for not quietly going along with it. If the company made a mistake in hiring, you can tell they wanted to bury it.
