I've never been so tempted to get an AMD card as I am this gen.  If I don't score a 3080 before the RDNA2 release, I probably will be switching sides.
 
What do you guys have against taking pre-orders from guys who have owned strictly EVGA cards for years?

I feel like nvidia avoided pre-orders because then it will make it too abundantly clear how low supplies are.  
 
This way they can kind of obscure the actual amount being sold with other distractions like scalpers and what not.  Terrible idea I know, but when you're stuck between an rdna2 launch and a hard place then better to let people deliberate about paper launches with distractions to add any sort of doubt, then for them to know plainly that the supply is just pitiful.

Daniel (EVGA) has confirmed this a few times in various forum posts over the last couple of weeks.

Lets discuss further... so NVIDIA said "No pre-orders" for any mfg's. To be honest I don't even see how pre-orders would help anyways, then all of the pre-orders would be held by bots, and people would end up getting their orders two months later anyhow.
 
However, I think there's a clown show on the end of the mfgs as well. Not that they really 'care' who buys the vid cards, but I think they could have spent a little bit more time vetting the sales process to prevent bots from soaking up the stock. The dispersal of the stock is completely on the mfgs, there were no stipulations established on who they can/cannot sell to in a free marketplace.
 
This matters very little to me, as I'm not chomping at the bit to get a card in my hands 'right now'! It does grant some insight into EVGA though, and this is one of the reasons I'm happy to wait as the POSCAP situation becomes more clear, and more consumers get the cards into their hands. I'm certainly not a conspiracy theorist, but NVIDIA certainly did cultivate the perfect storm for this release... a limited number of cards being released, whereby everyone wants one due to the hype, all the while some of the cards aren't functioning properly, and people are still inclined to buy it.
 
Again... reminds me of the coincidence with Ford halting all of the Focus RS vehicles in harbors as they put shrouds over intercoolers because they found that the intercoolers were "too efficient" and cooling below ambient thereby causing water in the turbos lmao... then a few months later people in their Focus RS started to experience blown head gaskets lmao (I was one of them). The entire operation was just a complete *REMOVED LANGUAGE* show on a product that could have been amazing historically speaking.

Maybe it's COVID and supply/production problems. The 2080 was way easier to get 2 weeks after launch and for a normal price.

Yeah a lot of people foolishly sold their 2080ti for dirt cheap on ebay. I bought 4. I spare and sold 3 of them. My EVGA 2080Ti is a great card and still working great. I will be going for the 3090 and sure I have the cash to buy on ebay but I am not going to support the scalpers and I want to let these cards go through their paces first

AMD Cards will be just the same, you can mark my word and quote me when RDNA2 launches. Scalpers and bots to destroy first batch. As long as there's demand there will be scalpers and bots.

There is no such thing as a "pre-order" for an already released product!!  This was in place to prevent anyone from ordering PRIOR to the release date of the card(s).

I unfortunately was a bit misinformed on the subject so we should take what I said with a grain of salt. I was incorrect about a few things so I just want to clarify that.

Would you be able to tell us what is preventing a pre-order option then? It would be such a relief to just pay to reserve a card and stopping the hunt.

I think people have forgotten this year and that we're still in 2020. 
 
More shipments are on their way in the coming weeks and months.  I'm sure most will get a card before the end of the year.

Just have to be patient. Hoping that in the next month they become easier to get.

There's a reason why you can get an AMD Card on release and not Nvidia.
