Looking to start  folding at home but wondering is it even worth it using two 560s in sli or should I hold out for another month and use a 970 or 980 (the 980 would be 2 months out).

My predicament is the wife loathes spending money outside our budget on new hw, but is curious as to what our current gear can do vs the upgrade. We agreed to call it even with the bucks program to help break even if I were to start folding since our power bill ranges from 40-160 depending on the season down here in SD.

I'm not sure what the 560s will pull anymore but it will not be great overall. This is no reason not to run them for a bit just to compare numbers with your incoming hardware and to get your passkey primed. Going from a 560 to a 970/980 will be a HUGE increase and every little bit helps the cause.

The program at the start of this thread is not what you want use. get the newest v7 client from http://folding.stanford.edu/

get a passkey here https://folding.stanford.edu/home/faq/faq-passkey/
it will greatly increase the points you get on work units(WU) that have a quick return bonus(QRB) you need to successfully do 10 WUs with your key before you get the QRB points

If you have trouble it is best to start a new thread, there are lost of very helpful and knowledgeable people around here to get you on the right path.

I run mine at 100% 100% of the time. Great way to use older and even new Graphic Cards and CPUs.
ziomuschio please do not derail this Thread, if you are not interested in Folding then Please move on.
