I hope they don't send any more of the cards out and unbox any boxed ones they have going out and fixing it if it's something they have to do physically to the card.
If they're lucky, a card BIOS update will be all it needs, in which case, disaster averted!

- It will prompt to update the firmware
- After firmware update, reboot PC
Nice! Now when are we going to see our Ultra power limits matched to the TUF power limits? As it stands the Asus TUF ref card does 350 and 375w with maxed out slider. EVGA Ultra does 320w max with blips to 330w.

How about that? And to think, I used to be paid big bucks to do this and EVGA got their problem troubleshot for free. No thanks needed.

Wow, I just verified the fix on my end as well. No high pitched tone, and I think the fan noise in general is quieter - like the default curve isn't as aggressive.
Seems like some cards got out with older firmware? Regardless of the cause, EVGA was incredibly fast with pushing out a fix - in the middle of a weekend.

As someone who had unfortunate honor of having one of the video-card-go-boom 1080's.. I agree. I hope that going forward with new cards, the long term fix isn't voltage or clock retarding/limiting and is a hardware change that keeps a 1:1 performance from the advertised specs.

These are new fans (not used in previous generations) so little hiccups are always a possibility. If they were the same kind from previous generations, you would be absolutely correct as it is something they would be looking for.

This appears to have fixed the issue for me as well. Windows defender takes issue with the instillation a bit but it's not big problem. I also only see one fan in the software now, which is fine. I'll trade some fine tune control ability for getting rid of that ear grating beep

I think that's a separate bug with the X1 software - sometimes it will show 1 fan or 2 when I start it. Restarting the application fixes this for me.

Yes, there is no impact to performance or fan performance. It is a fan MCU setting update.
