Michapolys Yeah,
I can see some issues with the way some EVGA implementations of the 30 series were engineered. It is not really just EVGA at fault here. More like a combination of things, with EVGA being the last wheel, thus being the one taking the blame here.
Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to contract the engineering department, to let them know of what can be done to mitigate or even nullify the issues.
So the situation is what it is.
Would you mind going into more detail? What issues have you seen and what steps would you take to solve the issues? I'd love to learn more about these issues before it's too late.

There is no doubt there are power delivery issues with RTX FTW3 series cards.....some fail...some dont.....but many are.

The side-effects have been repeatedly reported. As for the causes, they are just a couple of things and they cannot be nullified by the end user. Best you can do as a workaround is to disable any sort of power-saving setting on the GPU and the CPU. This will take care of any power related issues, be it reboots or burned GPUs, with an estimated success rate of 80%. It should work for most setups. As for the details, they should be shared with EVGA engineers as only they can do large scale changes to their designs and share the associated design details. If you happen to find any of the people involved, send them over to discuss possible actions.

Its called "everything working great and Card OC's like a banshee ...for the first 3 months...then ..out of blue..you here a pop..and then the Card is dead, followed by a fixed red led over one of the 3 PCI-E power connectors" = obvious power delivery fuse that "popped"....= obvious power delivery problem at the pcb electrical engineering level....you want to "learn more" suggest a little googling n reading as there are many many threads out there...... If you can get your mitts on an Asus Strix I would strongly suggest gong that route for this generation...as I dont see the same repetitive failures with those Cards, although I dont hangout on ROG Strix GPU Forum....given the issues with the ROG Z690 Hero Boards ....looks like perhaps some of these QA faults could very well be related to the pandemic and lack of employees...(I saw even JayZ pointed that out).....makes sense.

Yeah unfortunately would have been my first choice this time around (always been an Evga GPU Fan Boy....Motherboards is Asus all the way).....but availability of the Asus Strix Cards was extremely impossible,,,,while the Evga FTW3 was impossible ;)

I appreciate the response. As a fellow electrical engineer, I was wanting to see if the guy with 4 posts calling out engineering flaws was going to share the details behind his findings, or keep making generic posts. As expected, it was the latter.

i am disappointed evga chose to cap their XC3 at stock voltage, worse off then even FE. Please unlock 3080Ti XC3 to 390W.

In a thread discussing failures related to possible power-delivery issues, asking for a way to push the power-delivery components even harder seems ironic.

What about the 3080Ti's (mine was manufactured March 2021)......theres more to it than what Evga is letting on...as in not isolated to some earlier 3090's thats for sure.....video cards shouldnt go "pop / poof" and dead at the rate these are....too bad...oh well, hopefully get enough life out of the RMA card until next gen...

What’s going on with the 3080 Ti? I’ve got three and haven’t had any issues. One is an absolutely terrible overclocker, but that’s about the extent of it.

Today I woke up to my 3090 Ftw3 hybrid going dark during games. It's been almost a year since my last RMA. This will be the 5th replacement since I got my original card on December 2020. PC boots up fine but any kind of load on the gpu causes for signal to be lost and fans to ramp up. I also notice that when this happens my GPU core load drops to 0. I have a system monitor and this is the only component that drops as soon as the black screen starts. Sound remains on for a moment then it dies off as well. Already started an Advanced RMA and hope there are no issues with the replacement card. BTW this card is a rev 1.0 card. The 3 before this one were rev 0.1 all with black screen and fan ramping up issues.

Consider yourself lucky....mine lasted 3 months...barely...same "pop n poof (blown power delivery fuse) followed by fixed red light over PCI-E power plug" same as the 3090's...and 3080's.... I just got my Z690 put together today on my bench...will move everything over to my 900D and loop once all testing is complete, including my replacement refurb card from Evga.

I just received my 3070Ti after being in the queue since it came out. I was thinking of stepping up to the 3080 or 3080Ti within my 90 days and just wait it out. I understand that were some initial issues with the 3080s but I would LIKE to think that most issues would have been addressed by now. Being the cautious sort, I tend to always buy the extended warranty when offered. It is a small price to pay when you tend to keep things long term like I do. I am JUST at my 3rd year on my 2080Ti and hopefully I will never have to use it. I have had to use Advance RMA before for MBs and PSUs and it as so been worth it. As I read through this thread, it makes me really wonder what to do, BUT I do have just under 3 months to think about what to do and if there is a true issue I would like to think it has been addressed in the newer manufactured cards. Besides even if I stepped up it would be a year before I saw the step up card! Being only a civil engineer I have no technical analytics skin in the game, but reading everything above really makes me wonder. NOT like it would happen soon even if I did step up, 4000 Series cards will probably be out and I would be in yet another queue if I wanted one! There does seem to be enough issues that EVGA should at least look into it, unless they feel just giving out RMAs is good enough...

I wouldnt sweat it too much...there are also plenty with perfectly fine Cards....who knows why some "emit solid red" and some dont...or some pop n poof...get your Card and go with it...while it was running for the 3 months it was really amazing performance-wise...

I echo anothers sentiment as I've been in queue 1 year and 3 months, so the problem I have is getting my chance to purchase one. Not to mention when they changed policy and limited queues to the two oldest notifies it dropped my top choice card. I'd have liked to have chosen which notify / queue to keep and stay in but disappointments all around I suppose. Visiting the site to check on stock today seeing an adverts for yet another new card (3050) is honestly a bit bewildering. I wish the market could catch up with demand of current products before launching new ones but I'm not in retail so... I get it... covid... supply chain... and yada yada but man, this is the worst. EVGA is easily my favorite graphics card company. Having been the last 4 cards I've owned, I really can't see going any where else. I have every other part for my new build... ah well. Story of a good amount of the people here I suppose. Cheers,

AFAIK the 3080 is not currently available in the step-up program. Might change within 90 days though but sadly the only option up is the 3080ti or the 3090 at this point.

I understand that were some initial issues with the 3080s but I would LIKE to think that most issues would have been addressed by now.......................
AFAIK the 3080 is not currently available in the step-up program. Might change within 90 days though but sadly the only option up is the 3080ti or the 3090 at this point.
I have a 3070ti ftw3 and was going to use my step up for the 3080ftw ultra , waited with 8 days left on my step up. Went to use step up for that 3080ftw3 ultra, but evga just removed it from the available step ups. I posted in a thread here on evga and got a reply from evga , basiclly saying ' sorry , you'll have to step up to 3080ti instead.' So, I feel I got ripped off by evga , not letting me step up to the 3080ftw3 ultra, since they were still available on the European step up queue ... and still are ! So, KimbaLion, and others , don't wait like I did if you want a step up , do it as soon as possible.
10700, msi z590 mb ,16gig ram, 3070ti ftw3 ultra, win 10 , crucial m.2's

I plan to use my 3080ti FTW3 normally, as I would expect to, for gaming, accelerating video rendering, and so forth. I'll OC it, but won't run an extreme OC during games. I pushed my OC to the limits for some benchmarking, but won't expect to run it like that. I haven't mined on the card and don't expect to. The card is water cooled with the excellent full-coverage Optimus block and there is a gigantic full-sized (ie: covers the entire PCB) slab of thermal pad between the back of the PCB and the thick, finned milled aluminum backplate to help dissipate heat that soaks through the PCB from the components on the front side. I purchased a 10-year extended warranty on this card. I'll use it as intended, not abuse it, and if it ever poofs I know EVGA will stand by it. I still have a functioning EVGA 960 to use as a placeholder if need be in the event of an RMA. I don't intend to baby this card or intentionally run it at lower than stock power levels or anything to protect it. I expect it to work, and I expect EVGA to stand by it if it doesn't. I paid a lot of money for this card even though I got it for approximately MSRP through the Newegg Shuffle, and I'm going to get my money's worth out of it. So far I've loved it.

eg1122 Today I woke up to my 3090 Ftw3 hybrid going dark during games.
EVGA gave me a full refund after 3 RMAs on the 3090 FTW3. If you can get yourself a Strix, Gaming X Trio, or Suprim, I'd take a refund. My card was having the black screen and 100% fans issue with the EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra cards in multiple PCs. That doesn't happen with a Strix, Gaming X Trio, Suprim, or Kingpin in the same systems.

I feel your pain. I actually signed up a few months back and got my turn for the 3080 but it was extremely bad timing for a myriad a reasons so I decided to cancel and try to get back in queue for hopefully a shot in another few months but it was gone. Then the bugged entry thing happened and I signed up again only to be told sike jk that was just a glitch lol. They got us good with that one

ObscureEmpyre What’s going on with the 3080 Ti? I’ve got three and haven’t had any issues. One is an absolutely terrible overclocker, but that’s about the extent of it.
Its already been tested that power delivery is still unbalanced on the 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra - connector #2 runs way hot - and you cannot monitor this in software once it goes above 150+W. Someone tried flashing the card with one of the super OC BIOS from I believe it was a HOF BIOS that's capable of 1000W... and tested with the wires, came to the conclusion very quickly that the card could not safely deal with nearly that much power and even stock, #2 runs hot but the cards should be generally ok. But by no means are the FTW3 cards this generation anywhere near a true XOC card. They (EVGA) never designed the FTW3 right from day 1 and it still haunts them in all the newer FTW3 cards. Will be interesting to see how much they limit the FTW3 3090 Ti to - my guess is at best it'll be a 500W limit in BIOS.
