Got a trade offer for a sealed & brand new EVGA RTX 2070 XC for my EVGA GTX 1080 Ti Black

A friend recently reached out and said he wanted to trade GPUs, and would even add $50 cash to sweeten the deal. My 1080 Ti (recent RMA replacement) still has warranty until February 2021 and his brand new and sealed 2070 XC would have warranty until October 2021 if my numbers are correct by EVGA standards. Should I go for it? Am I gonna be sacrificing a huge chunk of performance if I do decide to take him up on his offer? I have a 200Hz VA 1080p ultrawide monitor by the way, if that helps any.

    Why does he want your older card over the new one?

    Your card has more memory.

    I don't think Vram will be an issue on 1080p on either GPU while the 2070 has Ray Tracing if you want that tidbit for your games.  Other than that, I think the 1080 Ti is a bit faster than the 2070 but not 100% sure.  I would also check its value for what it goes for used on eBay and compare that to the 2070s MSRP as well as check benchmarks on them both.

    You mention the warranty on the 2070 XC but when does the warranty for the 1080Ti end or has it already?

    from what I read/ hear - a 1080 Ti  can meet or beat a standard 2080 card in gaming .
     
    SO unless that 2070 trade card is a 'SUPER" variant , you would be downgrading on everything except the ability of Ray-tracing
     
    You say he is willing to give an extra $50 towards the deal - so you are getting close to being even trade with that in value  but not in gaming output...
     
    Your choice .
