What bcav said and the best part is that it uses 0 resources. Run it along side 100% cpu projects or gpu projects ala WUprop. We currently have 6 users on our team so there is room for expansion. lol

I like that I can add this one in like WUProp (low resources) and earn badges with monkeys on them...still don't quite get what it is doing though.

The project also used to claim that VM's were against the rules as they didn't want to be another FreeHAL. Since then, they have removed the posts/threads related to the subject (which included some of mine) and have changed gears in asking for various ways to get more resources brought to the project. There has certainly been a drastic uptick in the top users RAC achievements since then too. So, I'm guessing they no longer care about VM's. Someone wanting to maximize output could load up a bunch of them and just let them crunch this project for some lucrative points.

What "lucrative points" you can only run One of Each Projects Per Computers so I do not see anyone getting any lucrative points.

no... You can run 1of each app per host. So, each VM is a new host. If you run 50 VM's on your computer, that is 100 Work units per computer plus the 2 the host OS may have. Then add WUProp to each VM as well... and I think you can see the point I'm making...

Non-VM Users Plain Old Computer (POD) http://goofyxgridathome.net/apps.php Then have no VM Applications to run. Yes you can create VM's and run them as well but then you really could not run other BOINC or Folding Projects if you fire up a bunch of VMs. The Best way to run this Project is to run them on a Raspberry Pi (armv6l)

I get what you are saying...but being non-CPU intensive, you can crank out a lot of low overhead VM's if you wanted to which would more than likely score higher than running the CPU intensive applications. I didn't say they had VM apps. I'm saying people create VM's, load BOINC on them, attach the NCI projects and let them ride. People used to do this with FreeHAL which is why so many are timid about the NCI projects.

You will find that there are many DC'ers out there that crunch for the points rather than useful science. That is why I'm saying if you look at the ranks... things have shifted quite a bit since they pulled the posts about not using VM's.... [H] used to do this back when DIMES was still a viable project (as it was also non-CPU intensive). So, you could put BOINC on many VM's running FreeHAL, WUProp, Surveil, or Anonsi (depending on time frame as they have come and gone), and then also install the DIMES client onto a WinXP VM with minimal RAM. DIMES was a DC-Vault project at one time, so there was reason for teams to load up on those VM's... Edit again: And since GoofyxGrid is in Formula-BOINC now, there is reason to run several VM's just for points even if you don't care for the science.

I totally get what you are saying - I only run one instance per PC as the real science is in other projects - and I see where you could ring up the points with multiple VMs just for points. rs

Yeah, the VM's that I run actually have a non-DC purpose too. So when they are running, they typically get NCI apps and from time to time ask for WCG Beta work. Unless it is a project that is non-Windows like WEP-M+2... Then they may get CPU time.

This project has been added to the dc-vault. Just a reminder that it doesn't use your CPU, so it can be run alongside any other projects you're running.

Well now, I forgot all about WUprop so I added that to my system along with this Goofy thinga-ma-bob. Thanks for the nudge/reminder.

Yeah, I was running it on my old system but forgot all about it when I was getting the new system up and running. Guessing I lost about a months worth of work. Oh well not a major disaster or anything.
