Geforce Experience cannot update driver. Stuck on Preparing for Installation.

I can't get Geforce Experience to install the driver.  It always gets stuck on "Preparing for Installation".  I've tried to run the program in administrator mode and that doesn't help any.  I uninstall geforce experience then do the manual driver install.  Is it possible to just manually install without uninstalling Geforce Experience?

    Probably easier to download driver directly from nvidia and manually install it.

    Same happened to me , so I canceled it and retried downloading it about 2 or 3 times, then it worked...

    Kill Steam.

    The standalone installer demands that it be exited. It could be that the GeForce Experience doesn't deal with this correctly.

    This is the top thread in Google for this problem so I would like to contribute my solution to this. My Geforce Experience  was stuck at "Preparing Installation", as well. 
     
    Solution: Kill the application (GeForce Experience) in Task Manager because it won't let you close it out while it is installing. Right click GeForce Experience and click "Run as Administrator". You should now get an option to re-install the driver. Re-install it.
     
    GeForce Experience doesn't have the necessary permissions which is the reason why the installation is stuck.
     
    I have an EVGA GTX780 SC if anyone wants to know.

    Just wanted to say thank you for your post. Geforce Experience was driving me mad hanging on driver update but I followed your advice and it worked a treat!
