Hi all

I have a new build that has the GeForce GTX 550 Ti installed but will not work. I've been looking for solutions for a couple of weeks now and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

The card was working prior to me installing Windows 7. After the installation, the computer would only turn on with the integrated card. I tried to take the integrated card off of default but Windows won't even recognize it. I also tried installing drivers (the disc that came shipped and the most recent drivers) and neither will recognize the card.

After doing some research on these forums I found this post:

This user found his problem in updating his BIOS so I tried updating BIOS also. This did not work.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of solutions for this problem?

Thanks

Edit:
- BIOS also doesn't recognize the card
- I'm new to dealing with hardware
- Just realized the link was removed, but it was linked to a post on this forum

Hello and welcome to the forum. When you go into the control panel and look in device manager, what does it show for display adapters?
Also a more detailed description of your system would help. Motherboard, processor, ram, power supply, etc etc.

Okay...not 'Display Manager'. In Device Manager in the Control Panel, is the card being detected as installed? Even as an unknown device?

Yes I know. I mistyped and meant Device Manager. There are no unkown devices under the Display Adapters (this is probably where my brain was thinking when I typed display manager...)

It is not even being shown as an unknown device. The computer is not recognizing the graphics card.

It's an odd problem that it doesn't show up at all in the device manager. Are there any unknown devices shown anywhere?
Just to clarify things, did the 570 work on this board, or is this an entirely new motherboard and it worked on a different board?

Sorry for the late response, I was away for a little bit..

But there are no unknown devices in the device manager.

When the computer was first built and prior to the Windows installation, the card worked with the exact same motherboard.
