I understand that the Hybrid Cooler accessory is meant for reference cards since it reuses the blower fan from the reference cooler, but is the fan the only piece that is actually necessary from the cooler? It's a bit difficult to tell from the installation instructions.
If one were to obtain just a fan or a full reference cooler, would it be possible to attach a Hybrid Cooler to an ACX 2.0+ model GTX 980 ti?

I have seen several 980 ti/Titan X coolers for sale on eBay, but mainly older Titan reference coolers. I am not sure if the older Titan cooler blower fan would be identical and compatible with a 980 ti Hybrid Cooler. Does anyone happen to know if older Titan (or even 980) cooler fans would work with the 980 ti/Titan X Hybrid Cooling kit?

I've also seen replacement AMD reference blower style fans (only fan), but I assume those wouldn't be compatible.

    Hi TaoPaiPai,

    Welcome to the forums.

I can confirm that the Hybrid cooler will not work with a ACX 2.0 card as the heatsink would not allow for the hybrid cooler to be installed properly.

Please understand that while the cooler looks similar between the different models listed, they unfortunately will not work as they have different bolt patterns between these cards and coolers.

Thank you for the reply and for clearing that up. I appreciate it.

Exactly what I did with my Titan X.

What use is knowledge if there is no understanding?~Stobaeus

Ok awesome ! I figured I wont be able to get the Hybrid anytime soon but I can order a evga super-cloaked with the cooler kit and do the job myself. Would I be able to obtain the same OC potential either way ??
