I was wondering where it went to stock at, because EVGA didn't put any up on their site.

Not yet, shortly...

Shortly must mean the day after then :P

So I got them stable on BF4 at 1481/7500. Next step is to push/pull the radiator to decrease temps. My goal is 1500/8000 24/7. Better than Classies would do on air.

Not that I am going to OC my card at all because I don't mess around with that, but let me know how it works out for you after you do it.

So I added the pull fans and went down about 5C. Not bad.

Hell no it's not. With the pull fan pushing more cfm I think it helps to pull cold air tbh. I mean no it's not needed, but I like running as cold as I can get it.

So I tried a slightly higher OC with the slightly lower temps, but it didn't work. I can definitely live with the clocks I'm getting. What's everyone else getting for stable game overclocks?

Thanks Jacob and to EVGA the Hybrid is a truly amazing card.

But my GPU (2) is reaching 53°C whilst the other card only 43°C under 10 mins of stress, is this normal guys?

53 is a bit high, nothing to worry about, though. See how high it goes after a good amount of time. If it stays under say 60, I'd say you're fine.

What other card? Are you running dual hybrids or are you referring to a totally different card?

Had my card hit 90c a few times on me already. This was under no stress testing and happened within just a couple minutes of powering up my pc. Building in an ncase m1 and the hybrid seems to be very particular about arrangement. I think Ive found an orientation that hopefully works better after a few misses. Card is a low 61.5 ASIC so that doesn't help.

Sounds like a prime candidate for an RMA replacement.

I second RMA. No ambience should produce those temps at idle.

Thanks for the feedback guys. First time going through the RMA process- would I be better of handling it with my supplier (Newegg) or EVGA directly you think? Im within my 30 days purchase date so either would be an option. I added the 5 yrs extended and premium EAR when i registered my card the other day. Wondering if i go through EVGA will that transfer to the new card or would i be SOL?

Well newegg might not have replacements for you, so I would check with them first. If that fails then deal directly with EVGA as the RMA guys should have their own stock. I would definitely call them up first to make sure everything is alright as they may have you check some stuff and what not.

Why's that? Seen it recommended in a few other instances (more for noise complaints).

If I have an issue with anything under warranty, I would just send it back. This way they can fix it so if something else fails you haven't wasted time, but that's me and I don't like to tamper with an AiO system.

Makes sense. Yeah the other suggestion was reseating the cooler, but i wasn't trying to do that. I doubt a few air bubbles would be causing this anyway.

I mean yea if they say it won't void your warranty, but what if something goes wrong and you leak coolant everywhere? Then you're worse then you started.

With a low 61.5 ASIC and 90C just after boot, I wouldn't even bother with anything other than an RMA already.  You should be getting no higher than around 50C at load and my SLI Hybrids stay around 30C on a hot day idle.

Re: GTX 980 Ti HYBRID Tuesday, August 18, 2015 0:17 PM (permalink)
First off, I've been a PC gamer for many years and recently I finally got me an awesome PC. Obviously, I have a 980ti Hybrid! I'm loving it. This is also my first PC with EVGA (PSU, MOBO, & GPU) and after reading the forums for a while, I'm really excited about the community I've joined. I'm not only new to the upper echelon of GPU's, I'm also a total noob on OC'ing. I've watched a lot of tutorials, and I've read all the benchmark reviews for this card. I really did my homework. I have a few issues that I'm hoping for advice on.

My best (no overvolting) OC benchmark using 3DMARK Firestrike 1.1 is 17,364.
My ASIC is a 71.7%, btw

1) When I run my OC using PrecisionX while playing BF4 on ULTRA (NVIDIA Geforce Experience game optimization recommended I set meshes and effects to medium, and I did) at 1440p 144Hz I get display driver crashes. Sometimes it lasts 30 minutes, and sometimes I can play for two hours. I'm wondering if this is related to the newness of Windows 10? Even a minor clock boost will cause a crash, so I'm thinking that this might be PrecisionX/Nvidia/EA needing to get properly adjusted to Windows 10, but I might be wrong.

2) Is overvolting safe for a noob like me? Currently, I'm not willing to try it until I know more about what I am doing.

3) How do I make 3dMARK (Firestrike 1.1) loop? I've watched benchmark videos where they say to do an extended "burn in" to verify stability. That's why I was running BF4, to test for stability. I'm thinking that if I can figure out how to loop 3DMARK, then I'll know for sure if the OC is stable, regardless of what is causing the BF4 crashes.

And now, some epic pictures of my new PC. I just can't stop posting pictures of it!

1) Overcocking is not guaranteed not related to ASIC as it relates to OC-ability. My personal guess is the culprit is Windows 10, which is the precise reason I'm waiting to upgrade. A second very likely reason for your crashes is that you lost the silicon lottery and your card just can't OC past the stock boost. I'd hold off on overclocking while gaming until some new drivers come out.
2) There's a cap on the overfvolting you can do through software, but it won't solve your problems. Overvolting is more for chips that have OC headroom and are being throttled down.
3) I don't bench so I'll pass on this one.

Also, WELCOME!

Re: GTX 980 Ti HYBRID Tuesday, August 18, 2015 1:25 AM (permalink)
Hey all,

I have a Gigabyte Reference, 72.5% ASIC.  Got the hybrid kit installed and have tested a lot of bios on this card.

Running Heaven @ 3440x1440, max everything I'm getting the following temps and stable-ish clocks.

1400/8000@1179V (stock), 29C Idle, 52C max (1 Hour)
1450/8000@1.223V, 29C Idle, 54C max (1 Hour)
1500/8000@1.250V, 29C Idle, 56C max (1 Hour)
1550(few artifacts)/8000@1.283, 29C Idle, 58C max (1 Hour)
And a ram test
1450/8200@1.223V, 29C Idle, 54C max (1 Hour). *Edit had 23C idle.

My daily driver is 1478/4000 where i hit 52/53C on torture/benches but high 40s during gaming.

I think I'll replace the fans on the radiator as I have it exhausting in single push setup and can keep temps under 50C by manually holding a 120mm fan onto the back in a pho-push/pull. (Wife thinks I'm crazy)

I'd be interested in the stock hybrid bios, though someone said they had one and it didn't really perform for me.  I'll pick up a legit hybrid soon for SLI but I'm worried if my 850i Corsair can handle both.  Can anyone offer some guidance?

Nice set up for the pc also I get a lot of crashes from just video driver error. Also I got a 73% asic quality and for certain games and bench marking I get different stable over clocking. No matter of over voltage on the card. But the most stable I can run on oc 1496mhz core and 4000mhz mem oc. Or a 180 oc on core.

Also One Team.

Overvolting is more for chips that have OC headroom and are being throttled down.

Also, WELCOME!

Now, that is the kind of important information I needed to know about. Thank you.

That said, by all means try it!

Well, that's another almost full day of stock. Looks like all the complainers have gone.

Exactly what I was thinking.
