WOW "SINGLE GTX 980 is nearly as fast as 680 SLI!"

Why 680 and not 780 vs 980 ? I have two 780's sli at the moment and would like too see bench marks comparing them cant seem to find any ..

That wouldn't be very a good marketing for the 980, the 780's would blow it away.

I wouldn't say it would "blow it away".  The 970 FTW is almost as fast as the 780ti...the 980 IS faster than the 780ti.  Therefore with the right scaling the 980 SLI is def faster than the 780 SLI as it's probably equal if not a touch faster than the 780ti SLI.

"Here is a fun fact, a SINGLE GTX 980 is nearly as fast as 680 SLI!" This is what I was talking about guys, sorry for the confusion.

Will the initial GTX 980 Classified release also include a Hydrocopper version?

Thanks.

When those 980 Classifieds come out, how much VRAM will they have?  Hopefully at least 8GB.  And, will there be a 980 Ti Classified?  Or, perhaps Kingpin will find his name on one as well?

I'm pushing for more VRAM and CUDA cores since these monitors continue on past 4K - there's 5K monitors out there now.  Not to mention multiple 4K monitors.  It ain't stopping.

hopefully it only comes with 4gb, these cards are made for benching first, and more vram chips/denser vram chips = harder to overclock.

Made for benching first?  What good is benchmarking if your application for that item does not meet the demands?

Cherry picked cards for at 1506? My sli is having trouble beyond 1380 boost (SC model) on good temps... Share your oc settings? What are you determining stability with Jacob??

Not cherry picked, 1380MHz seems a bit on the low side. How are you testing it? That was just a quick 3DMark run, haven't actually really stressed for stability yet.

Found all my 13mhz snaps (1393, 1405, 1418 ect) and increase them one at a time to test. Currently testing using Hard Reset maxed out and Resident Evil 6 benchmark to check for instant driver crashes. If they survive 3-5 runs of that I give it 2-3 hours of looping heaven/valley and some 3dmark Firestrike runs (extreme and ultra).

Did you have to add voltage to get that high? If so how much?

Voltage was not touched, left at default. Will try playing with that today.

Re: GTX 980 SLI Benchmarks 2014/10/22 14:10:23 (permalink)
I too have the 980 sc edition in SLI and noticing a max of around 1380MHz on both cards running in-game.  Temps are in mid 70's, even upping the power target and therefore temp target it does not go above the 1380 mark..  I did put just one in first to test before SLI and it was around 1450MHz so I just chalked it up to an SLI thing.. much like how SLI idle is at 1012MHz, not too happy about that either.  I do play nvidia surround so I understand that is normal for that, but still I don't understand the logic behind 4x the clocks of a single card on idle with the same set up.

Anyway, if there is more information out there about these things it'd be great to learn more.  If this is just how it is with SLI that information is good too so I can stop looking :)  My cards are at stock settings, cpu is oc to 4.8 and that runs in the 60s while in game.  So heat doesn't seem to be any issue.  My other rig specs are in the sig if that helps deduce anything.

Thanks!

I'd be interested to know ACX 2.0 sli temps compared to 1.0 but it would need to be in a case which is subject to a lot of variables.

Using stock Gtx 980 Sc SLI, I was able to get 17543 in Firestrike 1080 0xaa Ultra. I think its a bit low as peeps been getting around 18.5-19k. Is there any way I can raise the score?
