mastermikeee If I understand what you are saying correctly, Sajin, then when I boot up with the stock second BIOS (without flashing it!), GPU-Z should display a different BIOS version than the primary BIOS, right? Any more information on this BIOS?
Possibly. Wi1dB1ue
Sajin 1 = Changes the BIOS. 2 = Enables / Disables BIOS write protection.
I think I may be doing something wrong then as I get the same results/report from the DOS window regardless of which position #2 is in. For the record, which direction (up or down) disables write protection? Thanks...this has been a great forum for a n00b to get acquainted with these cards!
I'm thinking down is disabled since it clearly states ON as up.

I have to necro this too. I modded the 2nd bios on the 970 FTW. Works great, everything is good. But when I switch the bios switch back to the 1st (stock) bios, nothing seems to change. I confirmed that it's the correct (stock) bios in slot 1. All the settings are at stock. But when I boot the machine with the bios switch in position 1, it's still acting as if it's booting from position 2. I'm confused.....

Sounds like you may have flashed both of them or the switch isn't working.

It sorted itself out after a few reboots....it was really odd. I even confirmed through GPUz that the 1st bios was still the stock bios, and the bios in the 2nd slot was the modified version. So I knew the switches were working, just....threw me for a loop.

Hallo EVGA-Community, I would like to have both fans from my GTX 960 SSC running all the time and not only at fixed temperature. Would that be possible with a secondary BIOS-Mod and could someone here help me out with one? Thanks in advance.

Which SSC do you have the 2GB or the 4GB? If you have the 2GB you can use the vbios here which should make the fans run 24/7. I personally edited it myself for ya. If you have the 4GB version please upload a copy of your original vbios to a website such as mediafire.com and post a link to it here on the forums so I can download it and edit for ya. If you have any problems with the above vbios please let me know.

Hi Sajin, thanks for offering your help to me but i think that i could manage it myself already by just switching the Dual-BIOS from Master to Slave at my 4 GB SSC. Now both Fans are running all the time with 560 RPM with 74 F in idle. Please correct me if i did something wrong. It´s also important to know that i bought my GTX 960 at 11.30.2015 and maybe i lose my garanty if i install a BIOS-Mod. I don´t know anything about that, so please correct me if i´m wrong. Sorry for my English, i´m German. Angela

Looks like you're good to go then. Using my edited vbios on the slave would not have voided the warranty if you had choosen to do so.

Thanks for the feedback! For the moment i will stay with the factory setting. If i have the feeling that this isn´t satisfying me enough in the future, i would like to ask you for your vbios and a tutorial for flashing it some time later on, if that would be ok for you. In the past i was only flashing my motherboard bios manually with a self prepared USB-Stick but i never flashed graphicscards before. So i would need some introduction if you don´t mind Angela EDIT: After telephoning to EVGA-Support i found out that the Hardware-Switch from the Card hasn´t anything to do with the Dual-Bios. It´s only a Master / Slave Switch for SLI usage. The only thing that they couldn´t explain to me is why the fans are only running all the time in Slave-Mode and if Slave-Mode usage is ok when i only have one Card running. Maybe you know something about that

The EVGA-Support person is wrong unfortunately. That Hardware-Switch is indeed used for switching between the 2 BIOS. Switching over to the Slave BIOS you get a more aggressive fan curve, higher power target and more GPU power. Its advised to use the Slave BIOS to get the most from your card. http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-3967-KRThat is your product right? If you scroll down, you will see it talk about Dual BIOS. That switch in the picture is the one used to switch between BIOS.

Big thanks for clarifying ManBearPig. EVGA makes such good cards and offers such a good support but sometimes i don´t understand why the manuals that come with the cards are so poor and why the hotline people are so poorly trained. Even if i don´t need the strongest performance at the moment, i still prefer to let the fans run all the time to keep the card cooler and slave mode is the only option at the moment for that i think. On the other hand i suggest that the card won´t use it´s max power as long as i don´t play a game that asks for it. Am i right?

That is correct. The card will only use as much power as is needed by the program/game you are running. If you are not running a 3D intensive game, your GPU will downclock and run in their idle state. And if you are running a game, the card will also use only as much power as it needs. If it doesn't need all of it, it won't use it. That's why it's best to have it on the Slave BIOS, you get the extra power if you need it, but wont use it unless it's needed. Also you might want to download eVGA Precision X to monitor your card, but also to make a custom fan curve for your card to make it run cooler.

Maybe you know something about that Hello, The bios master and slave do not effect SLI in any way. The Main bios (master) will have the EVGA 0 decibel fan design and the Slave bios with have the default (always on) fan curve.

Hi I got a problem with my freshly bought EVGA GTX 970 FTW Card from ebay. Basicly it starts normaly but when i start any game after few seconds black screen and my pc restarts. Same with FurMark .. few seconds .. dead. Any sugestions?
Xeon X3470, 12 GB DDR3, WIN 10 PRO The Card got two bioses and theres a switch on the mb allowing to switch between bioses and turn the write protection on/off. The Card gots had the setup on 1st bios and write protection turned off. The Card was running with no fans at all. Soo it looks like someone flashes the 1st bios. It will run np but only on loo load fb, youtube, word etc maybe it was not used before for long time and paste dryes out because it was dusty on the mb side and fans had no wear signs at all. When i switches to second bios the fans runs but its the same story after testing it .. dyes and restart. Please help .. what to do next???
