I have a GTX 760 and just got a new ASUS VS2484 1080p monitor with HDMI in and speakers. So I got an HDMI cable instead of using the DVI I used for the previous monitor.
After some false starts, got the HDMI video signal to work. Verified the audio is enabled and the monitor volume up.
Yet no audio.
I tried the instructions here:
(hey, my link got deleted - it was the 760 manual)
and here:
(also deleted! That's helpful. It was the EVGA FAQ 'how to enable HDMI audio')
and enabled the HDMI Audio device, which is recognized and displays as:
VS248-4
NVIDIA High definition Audio
(checked) Default Device
Audio's not muted.
Nothing.
Restarted PC from power off, uninstalled NVIDIA drivers, did a clean install of the latest driver, verified everything's enabled again...
Nothing.
One thing I notice different between the instructions and what I get onscreen is this:
(This was the screenshot of the NVIDIA control panel here link copied from the EVGA faq linked above)
The screenshot shows "Connector" having two choices - Audio Enabled and Audio Disabled.
I don't get that. I get one choice.
Connector - HDMI-HDTV (no dropdown, no choices)
Anyone have any ideas why I can't get sound? I don't even know how good the speakers in the monitor are, but I at least want to hear them. They would be more convenient than the external analog ones I have.
