Having a serious issue where my GPUs will not give a signal to my monitors via display port.
I have an Asus X99 Deluxe Motherboard, 3 Asus VG248QE monitors, and 2 EVGA 980 SC.
Everything was working fine for about a month. All three monitors were plugged into the top card via display port and SLI was working great. However, yesterday, I awoke to all my monitors being blank. Tried rebooting the system, the post beep that motherboard usually makes occurred but no monitor would display anything. I tried switching the card order, same problem. Only using one card, same problem. Only using the other card, same problem. Decided to drop down to one monitor, same problem.
Switched to DVI on the single monitor. It worked with DVI. Tested each monitor individually with DVI, all work. Tested the other card with DVI on all three monitors, all work. I did some internet searching and found that Nvidia had put out a driver update as a hotfix of sorts, 344.80.
Downloaded this and installed it. The Nvidia employee states that I may need a video BIOS 84.04.31.00.00 or newer in order to make this work. I have bios 84.04.1F.00.82 and I contacted EVGA about this. they said that is the only BIOS for the card that exists.
Then I began to try each monitor one at a time in different display port outputs. Strangely, and I find this especially strange, only one monitor will work with display port. Tried using that display port cord for the other monitors, just in case. Neither of the other two work. So, I can have one monitor working through DVI and another one (but only a specific one) working on displayport.
If I plug the other monitor in, the Nvidia control panel will detect it, but it will not let me activate it. Neither will the Windows option to activate another display through the control panel. I guess I might be able to put my second 980 back in and use my third monitor through the DVI on that one, but I'm not sure if SLI will work correctly then.
I'm very confused about this issue, and there seem to be some people on the internet suffering from a similar issue.
The only change I might have made the day before the issue occurred is running the 840 EVO optimization program. However, I tried a fresh install of windows on another SSD (850 Pro this time) with clean driver installs and had the same issue I'm having now. It's just weird to me that everything was working and now it's not.
Does anyone have any ideas?
