Unless there is an actual hardware difference, I never bother with SC, Signature, whatever models. If I really wanted to do my own overclocking, I'd do it myself. On that note, I have been forever turned off by superclocked cards from EVGA. The last one I had was an SC 285 that I had to RMA several times times until I got a stable one. And those defective models would still be unstable at reference speeds. Never had those issues with EVGA reference cards.
 
I really don't see the binning happening on these things like Intel does with their CPUs. Don't get me wrong, though, I love EVGA video cards.

The GTX 690 really is almost on par with 2 680's in SLI

It's surprisingly not bad for a dual-GPU card. Still doesn't beat two 680s, especially when overclocked, but it holds its own very nicely. They scaled the 690 much better than the 590 and 295.

According to review, this card OC to 1250 which is insanely high. Also, It runs just as fast as gtx 680 sli on most game benchmark and runs cooler. What's going on here?

EDIT: Looks like the GTX 690 can be pushed to 1250mhz on air w/o problems.
