I running these cards and decided to monitor them while I was playing some RO2 a few minutes ago to see what kind of temps I was getting, and they seem to be really high based on what I've heard of other people using these cards.

The left windows is the top/primary card that I have my displays plugged into. I've read posts by people saying they would just set their fans to 65% and the card would stay under 70C, but here I am with my card blowing at 67% and almost hitting 90C...

Is this typical/safe, and is there anything I could do to help without turning the cards into leaf blowers at 70%+ fan speed? To give some info, I'm using an Antec P280 with the stock exhaust fans and 2 low RPM intake fans that are ~40CFM. The cards have a 1 slot gap between them so they aren't too crammed together.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: looks like I can't post links yet, the GPUz image is "nMpt7gM" on imgur, but the temps were 88C at 67% on the top card, and 80C at 56% for the lower card.

Probably just need to get some better fans. What was/is the temp of your room?

Unfortunately I have no way to measure it, but my thermostat in the hallway outside of the door reads ~72F. It's noticeably warmer in my room so I would guess like ~75F.

Are there any fans that would make a difference without an extreme amount of noise added that you could recommend?

Your case has mount points for fans galore.
    • 2 x 120 mm top TwoCool™ exhaust fans
    • 1 x 120 mm rear TwoCool™ exhaust fan
    • 2 x 120 mm internal intake fans (optional)
    • 2 x 120 mm front intake fans (optional)
    • Fan power hub allows you to connect four 3-pin fans to a single Molex for improved cable management

Do you have a fan in one of the internal positions to direct air into the gap between the GPUs? If not, that'd be one I'd think about adding.

Do you have vented pci slot covers? If not, remove them, if so consider removing them anyway. Specially that one between the two cards.

I run my 2 intake case fans up to max speed prior to gaming, sometimes open the front case door to let air get in there more easily. I've only got one GPU.  If i had two, I'd go ballistic with all the fan options you have :)

I haven't used those internal fan mounts, would having a fan there cause any turbulence or anything with the first fan blowing into it? Also I do have the vented slot covers. I'm currently working on getting some extension cables for my 24pin motherboard and 4x6pin pci-e connectors. They weren't long enough to route behind the motherboard so I think they may be obstructing some airflow by being between the front fans and the cards.

Has anyone ever used this fan here:  Edit: Forgot I can't link, it's the Cougar CF-V12HB

The specs compared to every other fan I have looked at seem insane as far as noise/cooling goes.... 60.4 CFM at 17.7 dBA. I feel like they might be exaggerated. Comparing it to other fans they either blow the same CFM at like double the noise or have a lower CFM while still having a bit higher noise output.

The specs on that fan look awesome. I think the only complaints I've heard about cougar fans are about the color and how it doesn't match anyone's preferred color scheme :) Not sure how much you can trust the published sound numbers, how exactly did they measure that compared to manufacturers? Comparative reviews are probably a better source of the truth.

Some info on fans can be found here (the page has lots of data in it and takes a while to load)...

Also SilentPCReview has a keen interest in quiet fans...

I have a NB M12-P in my case and think it's freakishly quiet compared to my other 'normal' fans (silverstone, scythe slipstream). You probably don't want or need a PWM case fans, but NB makes 3pin fans too.

I use the Coolermaster R4 fans in all my builds, I get them just cause they are cheap, a 4 pack box for less then $10 is hard to beat.

My 670 FTW's don't exceed 64C with fan curve slightly modified from stock. What kind of fans you have in your case? If you card is hitting 90C I'd say theirs something wrong with it. Even at stock profile my cards only heated up to 69C.
