But joo guys are forgetting that power requirements go down for equal performance at the same time, it does go both ways.

heh like I replied there :)

It's not bad, cabling is easy even when you have that many cablles that are attatched to the PSU it's self, just use Tie Waps, they can really make work alot easier.

I'm both a user of the Antec Quattro 1000 and Antec Quattro 850 PSU's and these are very good PSU's that's for sure, only disadvantage about that Quattro 1200 is not power switch on the rear, that is something I do have with the Antec Quattro 1000 and Antec Quattro 850 PSU's.

Please note that the HX1000 was tested to run 3 280's (before the more efficient 285's) long ago.  It required a bit of rail balancing, but it was quite simple actually.  It tested and ran just fine (in the days of Core 2 quads).  So the wish to run dual 480's on one "good" 1000W PSU should be very, very doable.

25-27A per card
42 recommended for full sys with one card
67-69A is the likely max load, which in reality you really never hit.

Remember the with the amount of work these new GPU's can do you also won't be max'ing them very much either.  They won't strain with a 30" display, that's for sure.  So you may find that a 2nd GPU does little to nothing unless you are driving 3x 30" or 3x 24" monitors or the 3x3d 1080P monitors.  Then you might burn up a few watts.

I too came here looking for power requirements, but mostly because the web was burning, so to speak, with super high requirements.  I'd forgotten the PCI-E 1.0 spec, so you will find that things are likely far better than the web made them seem.

Now the question fo the day for me is dual 480's or dual 470's.

Hmmm...

Hey there,

I was wondering if my OCZ ModXStream PRO 600W would be able to drive a single GTX 480...

It has a +12v rails combined power of 50A...

You can see the power specifications here: http://www.ocztechnology.com/images/awards/mxsp_wattage_charts.jpg

My system specs are:

Asus P5KPL PRO
3GB RAM DDR2 800
Q6600
GTS 250 1GB
500 WB CAVIAR BLACK
1 x Optical drive
3 x Cold cathodes
1 x 250mm FAN
1x 140mm FAN

What do you think?

PS: Sorry for the bad English, I'm Portuguese (:

i would say no since the min requirements are
Requirements
Minimum of a 600 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 42 Amps.)

that leaves NOTHING to run your cpu case fans or anything in your PC

Not to mention those OCZ power supplies are generally lacking in quality.  I overloaded an OCZ StealthXStream 700W with an overclocked E8400, an overclocked GTX 260 CORE 216, and an overclocked 9600GT.
