Edit: Please move my thread, I misplaced it in the RTX3000 section
===============

Hey everyone,

My 1080TI SC2 is acting up all weird. During certain games the GPU utilizes up to 80% of its maximum capacity and the fans will keep ramping up and down. I did set a custom fan curve, but for some reason, the GPU is ignoring the curve, and fans will ramp up and spin for 100% max speed.

As you can see GPU1 goes over 90C while the rest stays below 60C. Is there something wrong with the 1080Ti? Because the rest of the temperatures seem alright if you ask me. I did purchase a 10 years extended warranty with the product.

    Have a photo of you fan curve ?

    91 C is HOT for the GPU ...... with only 71% power target ?

    what case & case fan setup are you using ?

    might be time for a TIM change ... if fans are @ 100% (case & GPU)

    As requested. Also, to reduce temperatures I was forced to remove the side panel. The rest of the case is by far not as hot, the CPU for one remains below 60C during load

    Looks like it is time to redo the thermal paste on the GPU. I just had to redo my hybrid. It's back down to 45C under load..it was hitting over 70C and very unstable on the freq. It now back to solid 2050mhz under load. I have to rethink my usage of LM versus standard TIM as the LM (liquid metal) failed after year or so pretty much due to infusion embrittlement. I used IC Diamond. It's a bear to work with as it's really thick... a hair dryer is your friend . It has always given me the best results on GPU's. Couple of other things, I take it your CPU AIO is intake? That warm air is is what is 'cooling' your GPU. That is very sub-optimal (and being mounted upside down).  I'd buy a new case where I could mount the rad as an exhaust on top before I'd go that route.

    Nice looking rig. Will look at your model and see if I can't introduce some of this when I decide to Oc my two 1080s.
