Hi Guys,
I recently got the thermal pads for my new GTX 1080 FTW, I installed them my self . After playing Battlefield 1 for a few mins with 4k resolution and ultra setting without anti aliasing, card got really hot, it went upto 93c. I then took the card apart again, saw a few screws not fit properlt,  I put it back applying Arctic MX-4 and properly fitting all the screws. Now my gpu temp stays between 82-83c after playing Battlefield 1 with the same settings. I played the game several times and the temp stays at 82-83c. I tried it with another game FIFA 17 on 4k resolution with all ultra settings. Temp stays at 82-83c all the time. Looked at my temp limit, it is at 82c. My issue is a few mins after playing any game at 4k, card goes to 82c and stays there. Everything else on the card is fine, should I be worried about the temps, are they high or optimal for 4k gaming. I know for most people, GTX 1080 FTW stays at aroud 75c on load, Please advice,

Thank You

My suggestion would be to set a more aggressive fan speed profile using Afterburner (or PrecisionX, but it has been known to be buggy).

4K simply pushes a card harder - and depending on your case, ambient air temperatures, airflow, etc., your results won't be exactly the same.

In the end, 82 to 84C isn't overheating, but it is on the warm side. From what I've read, 94C is the max temp of the 1080.

Open the side of your PC if temps drop it is airflow issue inside of your case.

ACX does a great job removing the heat from the GPU, however it dissipates most of that heat into the case - airflow gets the heat out and cooler air into the case

OC software, I' put the fan at Temp C +10 for fan speed % at 60C the Fan profile would be 70%

I'd say that the cooler and the PCB aren't sitting together properly. As a guide, there is a oval plastic tab on the bracket side of the cooler. That will slot comfortably to a same size opening on the bracket.

Once assembled properly, it should only have a little play.

Or the cooler may be warped.

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for your advice, I tried playing battlefield 1 for 30 mins with the same settings but with case side panel open. Shocked to see temperature didnt go past 72c. Looks like issue is with Case air flow. I am about to change my case from corsair carbide spec 03 to phanteks enthoo evolv tempered glass edition. Does any one know if this case has any better air flow. If not can any one suggest me a case with good air flow with a tempered side glass panel,

    Thank You,

Good to hear it was only case air flow related.

Forget cases and buy a open air bench.
