So I have been a happy owner since last year and been working fine since.
I mainly bought it for 4K and have helped me well in that area.

Lately though I have started to see some colored spots flashing here and there in games, first I started seeing them in Dark Souls 3 when playing at 4K, so went down to 1440p cause I didnt see them at that res.
Started doom up yesterday same issue. I did react how hot the backplate was on the card when playing Dark Souls 3 maybe a month back but didnt think if it that much.

I have not run the card on max OC but have been running on 120% power delivery the whole time, which I guess its supposed to handle with 2x8pins.
Also been running with an aggresive fan profile since start cause I dont want the card to run above 70C° usually its around 60C° when gaming, differs in games though.

I tried to cool the backplate with a fan, it helps make it less burn ur skin off kinda deal, but still getting artifacts even at stock clocks...

Halp!

Edit: Also I did reinstall the drivers clean today no difference...

    Really :(

Pretty sure you'll need to rma.

There are a few things we can check real quick...

Could you please tell me what the gpu clock is running at when you see the artifacts inside the games?

1999MHz is over the stock advertised boost clock of 1860MHz. Have you tried underclocking the card by 139MHz using msi afterburner to see if it helps stop the artifacts?

I tested it now -120Mhz on the core so its at 1860MHz the artifacts seems to dissapear after testing for a minute.

You have two options at this point...

#1 Keep the card and run it at -120 to prevent the artifacts.
    #2 RMA the card.

GPU Boost 3.0 didn't burn the card.

#1 Keep the card and run it at -120 to prevent the artifacts.   So the card is fine except I run it too cool that GPU Boost OC it to much?
#2 RMA the card. Is it an RMA Issue?

GPU Boost 3.0 didn't burn the card.

Reason im asking is because I havent seen this for almost a year now but now suddenly it becomes a problem so I have to underclock the card manually.

Should I RMA it? Would you?

    Also thanks for helping ofcourse.

No problem. I would most likely rma the card if it was mine. At 1860MHz the card is still performing 127MHz over the GTX 1080 FE specs.

Do as he Sajin says and RMA the card. I can tell you one thing for sure:
If it is starting to fail, it won't get any better as time continues to pass.

Believe me, the good news for you is that with EVGA's RMA you will have less than half the trouble and waste less than 10% of the time you would with most other companies.

Going through an RMA right now myself and have to chime in that EVGA has, without a doubt, the best support in this business.  I am blown away by how easy and quick dealing with them is.  Unless things change, I am now an EVGA lifer.

So I have been using the new card for a while and runs well and a bit cooler. I still think I might get a waterblock for it or get a second card first. Im not sure yet. Still happy gaming :) Still think I have to mod my Phanteks P400 front to get more airflow into the case with fresh air. Its a big difference just removing the front panel when it comes to temps.

A hot summer day and an agressive fanprofile it still hits 70C° in some games with the frontpanel on, removing it it drops to around 60C°. I know its no problem but still having a GTX 780 Hydro Copper before the temps on air make me cringe :P
