I buy products from EVGA since 15 years now... I have my content of experience, but I can't blame the company because of a few faulty products and funky individuals... But I understand that you are frustrated. - Good luck with your decision...

I can blame them. when every single purchase I have had has something wrong with it I can completely blame them. I don't know what other decision you are referring to that I have. Keep the card and go deaf? Thanks for the compliment though, I appreciate it, I try to be as funky as I can.

You got me wrong... I talk about faulty products + funky individuals from EVGA. But this happens anywhere... As for your problem, call them or open a ticket. Edit:...

df2rools I don't care anymore if I return it and get an offer of $500 for an evga gtx 1080, im done. Going to box and ship it back in a few hours.
First, register your card if you haven't already. http://www.evga.com/Support/register.asp Second, open a RMA ticket with EVGA. http://www.evga.com/Support/rma.asp Then, once you follow the process, you will ship the old defective one to EVGA and receive a brand new one from EVGA. There is no need to return it to your store, sell it used, or anything like that.

df2rools -snip- But the bigger issue is the NOISE oh my god the noise coming from the graphics card. even when the fans aren't spinning, if im not on the desktop its there. -snip-
This is very odd. My founders edition cards in SLI have no audible noise outside the case with the fan profile I have set. Currently running at 1987 mhz with 60-65% fan speed and 73C - 78C (top card) at 100% gpu load. Sorry that you have had this experience with EVGA. I have bought 2 ACX coolers in the past (750 TI and 970) and have had no issues. I have also had to RMA 3 different items and had a great experience with that as well. Seriously though, contact EVGA support and see if they have any recommendations. A quick phone call should resolve the issue and they will work with you to either correct it or get it replaced.

I tried online chat that pops up from this page: http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/graphics-cards/ after 45 minutes the chat still didn't open and it the icon is still spinning. I called. had to wait 15 minutes. a guy picked up who sounded like he just woke up, was very rude and unhelpful. Told me to run it to "break it in" what a bunch of useless ****ing misinformation, i told him I did overnight and had to sleep in a different room. He kept being rude and unhelpful. NEVER buying anything EVGA again. I don't know how people think this is acceptable, or that their customer service is actually worth a damn.

Try again. Don't give up. EVGA has the best support in the industry. Don't go in with such negativity. Work with them. They will work with you.

I apologize that you've not had the best experience with our customer support so far. I listened to the call, and while the tech was matter-of-fact about the situation, he didn't sound like he was intentionally being rude to you. I assure you we care about each and every customer, and we are here to support you. As the tech offered, we can certainly RMA the card for you if you like. I would like to explain a bit about coil whine first though. Coil whine is simply the vibration of the copper coils in a capacitor as the power passes through it. Every capacitor has coil whine, but the vast majority of capacitors whine well above the hearing range of humans. On occasion though, a capacitor vibrates at a lower frequency down in the range our ear can detect. It's not harmful to the card at all, so there's no worry about the card failing just because of coil whine. There are a couple things that can be done though to limit coil whine. first off, if it mainly happens under load, try enabling Vsync. Extreme frame rates tend to be a major cause of excessive coil whine, so limiting them to your monitor's refresh rate by enabling Vsync will significantly reduce coil whine in these situations, as well as reduce screen tearing. The overnight burn-in with a benchmark can reduce or eliminate the whine sometimes, there's a few forum members who posted having success doing this, so it can work. But, it doesn't always help as it didn't in your case. Sometimes the specific combination of components can cause an otherwise normal coil to whine. Even adding or removing an add-in card like a sound card or SATA card can change the power draw and thus the way the coil vibrates. Again, this isn't very common, but it can happen. We recommend testing the card in another computer as well, to see if the card whines in various configurations. If it does, there's a good chance it's the card itself and a replacement will solve the issue. If it goes away, then it's probably being caused by the power supply or the hardware configuration you're running. If you want to RMA the card through us, let me know and I'll work directly with you to get you taken care of.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. The support guy sounded like he just woke up or is going to fall asleep. By the end of the call, thinking about the problems I've had with 3 different EVGA GPUs with different problems I just gave up. Doing what he suggested already of burning in the card and him saying "Thats what warranty is for" doesn't help me. No, he probably wasn't intentionally rude, but gave off a "I really just don't care" vibe. I know that some video cards have a whine while at high fps (>200) and that it doesn't happen at normal fps for those cards, this is not one of them, it has the coil whine at any place except the desktop. I assumed RMAing with EVGA entailed me paying shipping, newegg offered me a prepaid label so I went with it and sent it back. I understand that the whine is safe, but this was such an extreme case where I just could not be in the same room as the video card. I've always heard that EVGA is the absolute best GPU company, but I guess not for me. If I can avoid it, which I will adamantly try to do, I won't be buying EVGA again.

Let's see, you bought a card with a base clock of 1607 MHz, and a boost clock of 1733. You are running said card at 2126 MHz clock, nearly 400 MHz higher than the advertised boost clock. This is so high that the fan is pegged at 100%. And somehow this card is behaving badly by your standards? So you're RMAing it? Dude. Seriously, get a grip on reality. That's one of the highest overclocks I've yet seen, and I'd say you are actively flogging that card well past what one might reasonably expect. But you now think you are entitled to make EVGA lose money by not only paying for shipping so you can return this, but go through the expense of refunding you and then losing the margin they originally made selling you that card when they have to turn around and resell it as refurbished to someone else? If this isn't straight up immoral, it's bordering awfully close to it.

The PCB on this card is an Nvidia reference PCB, so you can just as easily get another card that whines from another company. It's also quite possible that this card you returned won't whine in another PC, so pretesting isn't always an answer.
There have been some reports of coil whine here and there across manufacturers, but that is unfortunately normal.

You didn't even read the thread, maybe just selectively looked at the GPU-z screenshot. Sure the clocks were good, but if I cant be in the same room as the PC, with or without the OC, how is that worthwhile? It's not my problem they have faulty hardware. Should I soak up the cost for them not making a functioning product? Should I live with something that I cant stand? But it's obvious you didn't read the thread at all, and Jaseon from EVGA disagrees with you as he states that I should RMA it just two posts above yours, read the thread next time and thank you for the ethics lesson. brentsg The PCB on this card is an Nvidia reference PCB, so you can just as easily get another card that whines from another company. I understand that other brands have coil whine too, but I have had three bad experiences with evga, so I think its in my best interest (and evgas too) for me not to purchase anymore of their products.
