At work I'm dealing with a user who needs a 6gb video card to get Their video editing software to work, so we got a GTX 1060. The PC is a Lenovo M910t. There are no 6-pin cables from the PSU to hook it up. The 4 pin molex to 6-pin adapter is useless because the PSU only has one extra SATA 15-pin connection. Will a 15-pin SATA to 6-pin cable work in this situation?

Should work just fine as long as the card is ran at stock clocks. A sata power cable can provide 54 watts of power while the pci-e slot can provide 75w. 75w+54w = 129w. The card only draws 120w

    With an actual 6-pin you'd have more breathing room. 75+75 = 150w.

Looks like the M910t either comes with a 180w PSU or 250w PSU and only by special order a 400w and if no 6-pin than this is not one of them.

It sounds like a terrible idea to me. How hard would it be for you to replace the power supply for one which is up for the task?

A FSP 400-40AGPAA should do the job and comes with one 6-pin ATX connector. The big problem with my and these system is the 10-pin motherboard power connection so if going third party one would need to use a 24-Pin to 10-Pin ATX adapter but doing so also makes it hard to turn off the system because the PSU won't get the message.

    And yeah it's tight

that chassis looks like a standard ATX PSU will fit so you can go find a respectable 650W power supply with modular cables and not worry about it

I use 850W in a microATX box as mine is 80 plus platinum and while overkill it its not likely to ever die on me.
