Anyone know the a rough release date for the GTX 980 Superclocked ACX 2.0? I would love to pick one up for my step-up.

EVGA will only release reference versions of its products, NVIDIA reference spec and clock, to the Step-Up program.

I'll check with Product Management on Monday and see if they can confirm about the Classified ports.

Thanks mate!

mack-attack
so it will light up?

I'm sure it will be the same as the other ACX led white strip. Controllable RGB would be nice though! But I don't think Nvidia wants us having anything other than glowing green :P.

I will be going for 2 or 3  classys 980's that is. I couldnt care less what the back looks like tbh.

Yep. 2 for me to replace my 680 classies. But then again -- Kingpin Edition coming?

Dont know, aslong as i can volt mod my card as its on custom water i dont care. I volt modded my GTX 690 and its running at 1372mhz and 600mhz on the ram.
Fully stable in games and stability tests. I did this by using I2C commands which the 980 architecture does not support hence my need for a classified with voltage unlock or a Kingpin.

Here is my video of proof showing my 690 running arma 3 and 1372 on both gpus and also me changing voltages on the fly using msi ab and a custom .bat file using I2C commands that i put together myself looking at the ncp4206 datasheet.

It should be automatically registering as a 5 year warranty. I've forwarded this to EU support to look in to.

I also have confirmation back that the 980 Classified is indeed as pictured with one DP, one HDMI, and 2 DVI.

Just ordered the EVGA GTX970 ACX 1.0 and i am really happy i was able to get one and the price was amazing for how it performs. I am just kinda concerned about the noise level like stated on other forums. I know EVGA has great customer service and if there is a problem they will handle it properly and quickly. Just wondering if anyone has any problems or if any EVGA support team members have anything to say. Right now i can wait to finish my computer that includes the EVGA Z97 Stinger, EVGA Supernova 750G2 and the EVGA GTX970 ACX. This total EVGA rig will be amazing and can't wait to complete it.

Thanks for all your great support, quality products and amazing community.

I too got the GTX 970 ACX 1.0 SC version...I got 2 of them on the way for SLI.  I will be returning them though because I really am holding out for the GTX 970 ACX 2.0 FTW edition in SLI.  The new ACX fan looks interesting...although the old one is pretty good anyway.

I've never had issues with EVGA....I heard the ASUS STRIX 970s were really nice, and I wanted to get that card, but IMO it's all about customer service and EVGA is hands down the best out of all PC part manufacturers.  Plus a little noise never hurt me :).  I'm sure it's not that loud anyway...reviews are very picky these days.

Yea, Reviews can be picky since they only get one card and that can have a problem. I mean electronics can have problems as long as there is not like out of 100 sold 90 have a problem then EVGA would have to look and recall. I love EVGA I have not used there products in a while(Last motherboard was back in the Core2Quad days)and i am just doing a CaseLabs S3 and EVGA build and ordered the 970 from EVGA. I wont be overclocking so i got standard edition. I am coming from a old asus GTX 560. EVGA is top notch

Does this also mean no support for HDMI 2.0?

Is that skeletor from the he-man movie? I like it :D

I'm sure they all have HDMI 2.0 support... But, I don't know why they're delaying the release of their other ACX 2.0 cards. Hopefully it's because of improvements being made to them.

Yep! Most underrated movie/movie villain ever!

The product page for the 980 Classified lists HDMI 2.0, but I still cannot fathom why we're getting less I/O: 4 vs 5. Not only this, the Hydro Copper is using the updated I/O.

I have a 780ti acx SC  so i would not really gain anything by getting a 980 acx SCD version at 1080P gaming right?

Just bought a GTX 970 SSC thinking the world's most efficient air cooler marketing campaign might have some merit, but it's apparently all hot air....  oh well, at least EVGA's customer service is better from my experience..

i read that review and i have serious problems with it...i mean Hexus reviewed 970 FTW and Tech Power Up reviewed the 970 SC ACX 1.0,the power consumptions of Bit-Tech Makes no Sense:
Hexus            970 FTW          : Idle power : 48w   Gaming    : 225w
Bit-Tech         970 SC ACX 2.0: Idle power : 105w Load       : 293w
TechPowerUp! 970 SC ACX     : Idle power : 9w     Maximum :178w
this is funny cuz FTW is clocked way higher and even funnier is the card that TPU reviewed is exactly the same as B-T only with different coolers(ACX 1.0 vs ACX 2.0).so how did that happen? I would say just ignore Bit-tech...their benchmark seems to be really faulty...

P.S : if you cross check the information you will find even more interesting numbers basically Bit-tech has this bunch of numbers that differs from others...

Re: GEFORCE GTX 980 970 – The World’s Most Efficient GPU + Air Cooler 2014/09/24 05:21:14 (permalink)
Scarlet-Tech

Looks like a good deal to get the 980 SC ACX2.0 over the reference 980 SC, since the base clock will already be boosted higher and there is the ACX on it.

I have 2 4gb770 ACX Cooled cards in SLI and I love them....Anyway the deal on the ACX2.0 980 SC looks great........But I wonder how good the OEM Nvidia blower style cooler on the reference 980 is the same weight and and design as say the GTX 780 since the 770/780/Titan all of NVidia's OEM blower style cooler's look identical on the outside.
If they are the same since the 780 is a 250watt card with no over clock the NVidia OEM Blower cooler should cool a OVERCLOCKED GTX 980 with absolute ease and you have a easy 100 watt cooling overhead since the 980 only uses around 150 watts. BTW just think about that....... 150 watts on the same 28nm process node with over 2 billion less transistors along with a narrower memory bus at 256 bits vs 384bits compared to a GTX780 TI and it uses a good 100 watts less but performs better is amazing! I think Nvidia should get a round of applause...especially since they are not raping you on price starting at 329$ for the 970 and 550$ for the 980 they are really giving you the most bang for the buck..literally.

I for one just got my 770 classifieds this past December in my 3.5 year old 2600k @4.8+ depending if it winter or summer. I plan on holding onto my 4gb 770s until they cannot push a 34" 3440-1440 21/9 monitor at around 60 Fps. Now all I have to do is get the darn monitor. I have been waiting for AOC to release there LG paneled 34" 1440 monitors price since it has a real stand that allows 90 degree rotation along with no stupid THunderbolt ports so I am hoping the 499 British pound conversion to American makes it around 650-750$ since we tend to pay a bit less then Europe.

Heatware: Main Rig 3.3yrs old sporting a...........  cooled by a old AIO H-50 with push pull Cougar Vortex fans, P67-UD4-B3, 2x4GB Corsair Vengence DDR3 1600, 2x EVGA GTX 770 Classified ACX cards in SLI, SoundBlaster X sound card powering 2 12 year old self powered Advent SB750 studio monitors , 1x60GB Gen 1 Corsair Force SSD, 3x 2TB WD Green HDD's, 1x 320GB Samsung 7200rpm HDD, LG BR Burner, all mounted in a Coolermaster HAF 922 with every fan slot filled. Not a fan of the cooler design this time around or the blue either. As the other guy said, aesthetics are very important these days to buyers. My card sits vertical in my case so I'd see the blue.

Edit: It would just be nice if Evga could implement some metal or higher quality coolers for the next iteration. When you have companies like Asus, Zotac and GB all offering some very high quality non plastic coolers and throwing in backplates, it really gives them an edge.

Is there any way to get an automated message when the EVGA GTX 980 Hydro Copper is available?

Star Citizen looks great on 3 monitors, but it's also a sliiight bit much for a single good old EVGA GTX 680 HC CLassified.

EDIT:
I guess no answer means 'no'.
Any ETA at least on when that card will be available? Doesn't need to be exact. "2-3 weeks" would be accurate enough. .p

EDIT 2:
I see there is now a product alert feature. So even though this was (strangely) not answered, thanks for that! :)

I love EVGA and I was planning on getting pair of 970's until I saw that you guys decided to put blue on the ACX cooler. Sorry but you've ruined it and I don't plan on buying them now.

A shame honestly

LMAO  now that's funny

So for the step uppers, is the 980 going to be ready? or has it been scrapped until the next release in december...in which case my step up better automatically transfer to that card lol

Any word on availability of the GTX 980 FTW (the card that I might step up to from my 970 SC)?

It's on EVGA's list of cards but can't be purchased (yet?).

EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC (3975) - EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 - EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTX 768MB (collecting dust) - BFG GeForce GTX 285
