Hi all it's been awhile,  Just purchased a GTX 1660 card to install in my older system. The problem i have is my psu only has two 6 pin pci express power cables and the new card requires an 8 pin cable. Is there an adapter i can purchase that will make them compatible and does it make sense or should i just buy a new power supply?

 Thanks in advance.

EVGA used to include a Dual 6-pin to 8-pin Adapter in the boxes up until the 10-series cards, then I guess they started cheapin' out.

Many places that sell PC parts/accessories have those adapters..Pick one up somewhere..But I can't imagine your Thermaltake Toughpower 850W not coming with an 8-pin PCIe power cable, look in the cable bag or box or whatever.

There may be a 6+2 pin cable/connector that came with your PSU instead of a solid 8-pin connector..Just add the extra 2-pin part to the 6-pin part to make an 8-pin.

OMG thank u!
I tried to use the 8 pin connector that came with my Corsair 750w PSU "CX750M" but for some reason it wouldnt allow my machine to boot up, then after reading your post i tried adding the extra 2 pin and voilla! lol now i can actually get a decent frame rate with Halo Infinite at 5880x1080p 60Hz...
