Looks like there will not be a Formula BOINC for 2024. The guy who runs it does not have the time to do so.
Plus there were attacks on the server during sprints. Sad to see it go. Hope he lets Tim take it over but i would not bet on that.
Time will tell.

I'm surprised there is drama at all surrounding FB...it's supposed to be for fun!  Sad to see it go this year.  I like having to run projects outside my usual and trying to maximize output for the weekend (and racing yodap most of the time!).

That’s a good one. You’re in the Shelby class and I’m in the Pinto class.

FB may live to see another year. Seb has relinquished some control to Timbo and he is working hard with others to come up with a plan.

    Thanks.
I’m looking into it and it seems promising for the future of these kind of competitions.

Looks like there will be a FB for 2024
They are doing a test sprint at the end of the month. There is three tiers and we are in the third tier. No where to go but ⬆️!

For PrimeGrid multi thread tasks, you will get the best performance by disabling hyper threading or setting BOINC to use 50% of your CPU and running one task on all available cores.
When Formula BOINC chooses PrimeGrid for a sprint there are no restrictions on which sub task to run, so AP27 tasks on GPU are generally the highest "PPD" right now.  You can do well in a sprint without running any CPU tasks.

Just to be clear, Ramanujan Machine is the sprint going on right now not PrimeGrid.

With PG hyperthread off unless you are running sieve tasks, multithread is best for LLR2 tasks.
Also want to try to fit the tasks in the CPUs L3 cache. Small LLR2 maybe able to do 2 or more depending on CPU and what tasks.

Bill is that E cores and hyperthreading or just Ecore . I got a i7-12700F its not like the older ones where you just turn off hyperthreading , Think I can turn off E cores to but still Learning Motherboard it did not come with a manual . And I got no idea how to fit the tasks in the CPUs L3 cache . Not really into crunching numbers Looks like will mostly crunch Rosetta and SiDock .

I have no E cores myself but I have read it is best not to use them. Not sure how to make that happen.
I am using x99 and x299 boards and an older 2P xeon rig.
As far as fitting tasks in L3 on PG task preference  it tells you how big the tasks are. (FFT size)
    Recent average CPU time: 113:33:14
FFT sizes: 2560K to 3072K (uses up to 24576K cache per task). So that would be around 25mb
Most intel CPUs it will fit or it won't. AMD CPUs can be a bit tricky they way the cores interact with the cache.
If you do ever want to run PG in the future, as of now CPUs with AVX512 run the fastest, Intel X299 or the new AMD CPUs

WCG still has medical tasks too and I have been getting steady tasks.

They lost my account I really do not want to start over . On top my email address with them gets no emails from there automated emailer . I tried to delete the account I just made can not no email confirmation I used the same email and password as I used in 2012 .  I sent them a email with my join date points and other info from Account information on prim grid site .
I do know I can turn off hyperthreading and turn off E cores .  I7 12700 has 8 cores 4 E cores and with hyper 16 cores . 16 cores run at 4.9 GHz the 4 E cores are 4.6 GHz cache is 3.6GHz . Now with windows 10 I would need to turn E cores off but win 11 fixed that I am not sure turning hyper off on newer cpu's is same as old ones . I know when I turned hyper off on my old 3930k it was only worth about 3% over leaving them on so I turned it on I hate restarting my comps .
As for AVX512 just looked it up . I had to go water cooling to crunch stock and had one of the best air coolers . I can over clock cpu a lot its keeping it under a 100c and Throttling well crunching or folding on it , even on water I hit 85c that is pushing about 200 watts . I looked for crunching with newer cpu's not much out there nor for folding , folding is where I found it would only fold the 4 E cores on win 10 with them on win 11 fixed that .
Just for fun here is longest one I am working on

Maybe when this sprint is over tomorrow I’ll try a Genefer 22 on the new 5950x for comparison. I have never run one before on CPU.
Can you try lowering the voltage a little on the CPU to try and reign those temps in? It works pretty good on the Ryzen. It’s been a while for Intel for me so couldn’t help with that but someone here should be able to or Google it.

My cpu temps are good . Anything under 100 c is good on the new intel seems like but want to keep them under 80c are so . If it was my old 3930k it would of fried . All the new intel cpu's run hotter then the older ones .
