With MSI Afterburner being abandoned by Unwinder, the Russian developer, due to MSI not meeting their contractual obligations for over 11 months, what OC/monitoring program will you use once Afterburner stops working? Or do you think it won't break with newer and newer driver sets / Windows updates?

They did state that RTSS will be worked on still, but that's just the overlay and not the API integration needed for proper monitoring of the hardware right? Which is why the 7900XT/X series doesn't have all the info shown that the 6000 series does?

I'm guessing EVGA's Precision will also eventually have this problem. Since they have been the only two programs that I've used for monitoring and overclocking in the last decade, what other options even come close?

Here's the post where I found out what Unwinder was doing - https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/7900xt-power-usage-not-visible.446010/#post-6090142

I was looking at the Asus software. I take it the OSD is pretty blah if you take the time to mess with RTSS and HWinfo? I've never messed with HWinfo, and have only used RTSS to increase the OSD size for Afterburner so I can read it on a 4K TV - which was difficult because that dang program didn't scale up so I could read it.

That's besides the point, it works on my 4090 FE right now as well - I'm interested in the future when MSI Afterburner no longer works because it's no longer being updated for new drivers / windows updates or versions, or even new GPUs. What will we be using then?

I’ve never used the asus gpu tweak osd. I’ve only used the software for fans/clocks adjustment. Pictures of the osd online look fine to me, but you can definitely monitor more stuff with rtss/hwinfo.

ASUS GPU tweak is fine actually. It does stink that MSI Afterburner is all but dead but there is nothing we can do about it. Unwinder is Russian and with all the sanctions being put on them for the war in Ukraine there is no way for him to reliably be paid. It sucks yeah, but so does the war.

Has EVGA officially stated Precison X will no longer be supported by them? I know one would naturally think that would be the case but still lot of 30xx and previous cards still out there.

I was wondering why there had not been any updates. Thought it was strange but not enough to think it wasn't being supported. That sucks!!

I think the RTSS & HWiNFO combination looks great. You can customize any way you want.

I have mine color coded so that I can eliminate the labels and only show numbers. But you can change the labels to anything you want.
Any sensor monitoring in HWiNFO can be displayed which is quite a lot.

    Yellow for cpu temp
green for gpu temp and fan speed
orange for pwm vrm temp and fan speed (because that temp controls my case fans)
and magenta for the RTSS fps counter

All concise and small on left side of the screen so it doesn't interfere with the view of the game. It's all configurable.

I run Precision without the server for fans and clocks, for now, until it doesn't work anymore. After that, I don't know.
But I see your point about using a 4K tv
