this is all hypothetical becuase the 4080 is insanely overpriced for its performance compared to its performance and evga had the right idea to leave after nvidas terrible pricing ideas. but im wonder if u were going to price the 4080 properly? what is the max u would pay for the "best" one ( obvoiusly the best one would be the evga ftw if it existed) knowing that the 4080 is slightly above half the power of the 4090 for me... i think a base MSRP price of $800 for the FE, and i would pay a max of $950 to get the evga 4080 ftw im still trying to get my hands on a msi suprim x 4090 its not quite as good as the strix but its the best price to performance/noise ratio with the strix being way more

I'd agree with your estimations. Base MSRP should have been $799 with boutique cards in the $900 - $950 range maybe possibly stretching to $1000 for really high end models with custom power delivery and cooling.

i mean i was bound to get one response like this.. but mind i ask why? at that price it would be better to just get the nearly double improvement 4090 for a just a bit more. why support the greed?

4080 power use/performance for 4K gaming is on the sweet spot for me. I never wanted a card over 350W, 500W - 600W is insane power consumption. Add CPU that gauge 100W to 230W AIOs, fans, LEDs etc... turning PC in to a furnace is not my preference. Greed is all over, so this is not different from paying airfare up 40% for holidays, or hotel room 70% up over weekend etc... I worked hard, retired lately, and can support things I like.

A card is sold cheap will end up scalped to even higher price if quantity is low just like AMD's GPU. There is a choice to pay more to Nvidia or pay more to the scalpers.

Looks like the 4070TI might hit the 800$ mark, we are still in artificially created demand because they are still sitting on a pile of 30 series chips , the FE 3090TI is for sale on Nvidia page for 1099 , LIMIT 5 , lol , At some point they got to get off the pot, but it wont be tomorrow

If it was an EVGA FTW I would probably do $879. If it was the base model $799.
Of course that is based on a wide release and me feeling like I needed to upgrade. Right now I am happy with my 3080 FTW3 over spending $1000 for a slight increase in speed.

$899 and any tax and shipping would be my maximum, but that's already enough to make me grimace. Waiting for 5000 series because of price, new PSU requirement, and my 3080 is still giving great performance.

I see a lot of negativity about the pricing of the 40 cards but I think most complainers are the ones who haven't seen what these cards can do with 4k gaming and raytracing combined with fast frame rates and the high quality 4k monitors (Or the ones who cater to them AKA channels on youtube and PC news websites). $1200 is a steal and I don't think the 40 series reign will be short. They run so cool and fast compared to the 30's. Why rush out more gear? Why even water cool the 40's? I'm running 3000mhz core in 4k at 120FPS on Doom and Halo, stable, on a '90 40's are ripe for some BIOS mods

Nah, it has to do with what I'm willing to spend, despite the performance increases.

There's no founders edition 4070ti. Prices are already leaking from retailers in the neighborhood of $1200-1400...even more than the 7900 XTX lol.

Not sure who is going to buy 4070Ti for the price of 4080, when 4080 is very much available.

exactly. Looking at what AIBs are actually putting out to tech sites, it looks like most will have a model that is $799, and others ranging from $850 to $1050+, at least as far as MSRP goes. What they get sold for at retailers is another thing altogether. This is like the 30-series particular model launches where EVGA for an easy example would have one model (a "black") model that was the MSRP model so they could say they sold one at that price, but they seemingly had an extremely small quantity of them to sell, then almost all of their actual volume was in a much higher MSRP model(s) that they could do a factory-OC and charge more for. Oh, and add more RGB, of course! (lol)
