Trying something new this year, one thread for all the PG challenges all in one place.
Feel free to update or add any information as needed.
 
PrimeGrid's 2025 Challenge Series

1st Challenge thread: Penguin Awareness Day Challenge

From the challenge thread:
The first challenge of 2025 will be a PPSE challenge. Can we advance PPSE back into the T5K list? The challenge will last for 3 days, starting on January 20th at 7:00:00 UTC.

More information coming soon!
 
Seems like a lot of PPSE tasks are being run to get PPSE into the TDP 2025. 
So if you can run some PPSE tasks and find a prime or two while your at it. PPSE is one of the best shots to find a prime.

    1st challenge starts in 25 hours from now. Starts 2AM EST. 
    PPSE small tasks, very good chance to find a prime. Everyone is first. There are some very small double check tasks to run.
    On my boxes they take 15 sec or so.
    Good lock everyone.

    Of those tasks that have been sent out:

    608 (0%) came back with some kind of an error. [608 (0%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
    1100656 (81%) have returned a successful result. [1100867 (81%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
    252514 (19%) are still in progress. [252581 (19%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]

    Of the tasks that have been returned successfully:

    136621 (12%) are pending validation. [135923 (12%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
    964035 (88%) have been successfully validated. [964944 (88%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
    253 (0%) were invalid. [253 (0%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
    0 (0%) are inconclusive. [0 (0%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]

    The current leading edge (i.e., latest work unit for which work has actually been sent out to a host) is n=2115817. The leading edge was at n=2105295 at the beginning of the challenge. Since the challenge started, the leading edge has advanced 0.50% as much as it had prior to the challenge!

    More than 1.1 million tasks completed in the first day.

    Utterly ridiculous! Let's keep it up!

    Ending statement from the thread.
     
    As we approach the end of the challenge in about 16 hours...

    There's less than a day to go in the challenge.

    First of all, thanks to everyone for participating. A phenomenal amount of work has been done. We have all but guaranteed that PPSE will be available for TdP 2025 by virtue of making it back into T5K. We've processed well over a million candidates per day. You all have done great!

    As the challenge ends some of you are going to move on to other projects. If you still have challenge tasks on your computer(s), please either let them run to completion, or abort them so that those tasks can be resent to other computers immediately. This helps us finalize the challenge results in a timely manner. Thank you all, and I'm looking forward to seeing you next month for Tour de Primes 2025.
