What does the hotspot temp on the a 3080 FTW3 indicate exactly?
Mine is Watercooled with a Bykski block and has been for like a year.

I've noticed a few random crashes lately (mainly during playing FF7 Remake), just black screen/sound keeps playing but picture doesn't return, have to hard reset the PC.

I had Afterburner open and temp sits around 65Degree's (hot 31Deg day today in Australia) with zero offsets on speed/voltage/etc, all stock settings.
So i opened GPU-Z instead and immediately saw PerfCap Reason as Therm.

Everything is great, all sitting around 50-60 degree's across all the ICX gpu/mem/pwr temps, but Hotspot is reading 102-105.

Now my cards been mounted to the waterblock for quite a while and i've been waiting for a water distro plate for my Core P5 case to turn up so i could drain it all/remount everything/fresh coolant.

Could it just be simply a thermal paste issue, or since everything else is in a nice range, am i looking at a card issue?

Hot spot is exactly that. The hottest spot on the die. A repaste could solve the issue.

I dont ever remember the hotspot being much over the regulard gpu/gpu2 temp sensors or ever having a therm performance cap reason even when i mucked around OC'ing it under water

I'll have to repaste it before all the new gear turns up and see that fixes it.....

Voids appear in the thermal paste over time. It is inevitable and unavoidable. The thinner the paste is, the faster it happens.
If you were able to mount it well previously, a repaste should fix it.
