For a while my mouse was fine with no DC, but with the recent update v1.0.20 and Firmware v1.43 the DCing has started again and is quickly getting worse. Hoping for a permanent fix soon.

Having the same issue here.

New version of Unleash is available - https://www.evga.com/EVGA/GeneralDownloading.aspx?file=EVGA_UnleashRGB_1.0.21.0.zip

   1. Fix X12 / X15 / X17 Left and Right click lost if clicked at the same time.
    2. Key Assignment support combination keys.

Should also help with the disconnect issue, let us know if you still have issues!

This definitely has not helped with the disconnect issues. If anything it make it worse. When this first started the disconnect only happened when my PC went inactive for several minutes but not my mouse disconnects while using it while gaming.

Mine is still constantly disconnecting too. The scroll wheel still goes crazy whenever it's used.
This mouse is useless and I'm not buying a 3rd.

So a few firmware updates ago (when this first started happening) I went into the power settings and changed some of the USB options for my PC. Power Options > advanced settings > USB Settings > USB selective suspend settings >  change to disabled.

I noticed that when i moved it from enabled to disabled the issue stopped and only started back up when I did a firmware update a week or two later. I assumed the update was the fix for the issue but it only broke the temporary fix I had found. It might be worth looking into if this issue is related to that setting.

This problem is really really bugging me like hell!  please fix it ASAP!
I have bought 2 of this X15 because I liked the lay-out for my MMORPG,  all of them having this USB disconnect issue, then I RMA one back and got a third one AND still having this issue!   super annoying when your mouse stops working randomly a few times everyday!
Very please look into this issue! it has been too long for a good company to respond to such a dire issue, it certainly making me think twice buying any more EVGA product in the future.

Any news on when a fix is coming for the random disconnects? Or would it be better to stop wasting time and just use it as a target to shoot at and buy from a better company?

Accidental solution found(maybe):
So after Im trying to ease the pain of plugging unplugging USB cables several times per day I bought myself an USB hub from Amazon the thing with 4 individual push on/off buttons, and installed right next to my keyboard to plug the X15 mouse in.

Guess what? 2 days passed and I have no issue of disconnect!  my version is 1.0.10 and  firmware  1.45  I do not know how long will it last or does it actually fix the issue.  If you have some kind of usb hub maybe worth a try.

Even if it doesn't fix it, it still saves wear and tear on your usb ports. I've started doing the same but with a simple extender I already have for my ps1 controller dongle. Granted USB ports now are made for thousands of unplugs/plugs but no need to put stress on them if you don't have to.

No real news. I put in a complaint on the evga website and got a reply of them having no knowledge of the issue. At this point I think evga just expects us to accept that we paid money for a defective product-line and hope we forget about it down the road when its time to drop $1000 on a new gpu.

Re: X15 random disconnects? 2022/11/25 09:08:57 (permalink)
While I have an RMA open, I haven't completed it because of the issues other users have indicated with having similar troubles from RMA'd replacements so instead I just bought a different mouse. While I love the feel and button configuration on the X15, the random disconnects just kill using it for anything. I'm sure its problematic trying to track down the issue as well for the firmware developers. There doesn't seem to be any visible reason for the disconnects. I have had the mouse work for hours at a time, other times the mouse fails as my PC boots up. I've tried changing which USB port the mouse is connected to, using powered USB hubs, and made sure all my hardware firmware and drivers are up to date. I have had to resort to keeping an old mouse "on standby" for when this one fails. Then I go through a process of multiple re-connections of the X15 to get it to function again.

I have to wonder if the mouse isn't filtering out all the USB packets that are supposed to be sent to a different device on the bus and so the USB packet locks up the mouse causing it to fail to communicate. I have noticed that it is much harder to get the X15 to start back up when I have my other mouse plugged in, as if it only is filtering for "mouse type device" instead of it's own assigned USB id, but it still has trouble occasionally when I don't have another mouse plugged in so it is possible one of my other input devices "acts" enough like a mouse that it can cause issues.

I was able to downgrade my mouse firmware with the following steps:
  1. Download EVGA Unleash RGB software version 1.0.13.0:
  2. Extract the EXE file to a new folder using 7-Zip
  3. Open Library\X15RGBLibrary.dll with a binary-safe text editor (Notepad++)
  4. Search for the string "X15_v1.28.bin", which is the last good firmware file as of now (the file itself can be found in Firmware folder)
  5. Look for the number after file name ("284"), it's the firmware's internal version and compared with the one from connected mouse
  6. Modify it to become 291 (the latest/buggy firmware v1.34 has internal version of 290, according to Library\X15RGBLibrary.dll found in driver version 1.0.15.0)
  7. Quit any running EVGA driver, run extracted UnleashRGB.exe, it will attempt a firmware "update" (downgrade to v1.28) because mouse-reported firmware version is 290, lower than 291
  8. After finishing the update, the driver will attempt to update again (this time it's 284 < 291), cancel it
  9. Voila! Your X15 mouse firmware is now downgraded to v1.28.
The 1.0.13.0 driver can then be installed normally. Don't forget to disable auto-update this time.
(EVGA, please don't patch it in a future release. We need this trick to prevent other undesired firmware updates done accidentally.)

I'm having a similar problem. I may find myself coming to this guide very soon.

I think I have a pretty easy solution to this issue.

I managed to use the tool linked by EVGATech_JaesonW above downgrade my firmware to 1.28 (I cannot link it for some reason).
Steps:
  1. Download the tool linked above and extract to your desktop.
  2. Download and install EVGA Unleash RGB software version 1.0.13.0 (  )
  3. Copy "X15_v1.28.bin" (located in C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\Unleash RGB\Firmware)
  4. Paste into the firmware tool folder you extracted to your desktop
  5. Rename "X15_v1.28.bin" to "_X15_v.bin"
  6. Run "_X15Update.bat"
  7. Run EVGA unleashed and check settings to see if the firmware downgraded.

So far, the mouse is running much better especially on bootup.
Will report if I have any issues.

I haven't been having disconnects like I used to have on my keyboard and mouse, so it does seem like the firmware update helped. I did have it happen a few times while in windows before the update but oddly I can't remember it happening ever while in a game. It also it seems like one of the firmware updates fixed having to unplug and replug in the mouse and keyboard when they disconnected. Last few times I had the mouse disconnect it was just for like enough time to be annoying and then it would reconnect.

Seemed to be fixed for awhile for me but just updated to the latest firmware 3 days ago
and the disconnects are back. Seriously dumbfounded that this has not been fixed considering
how long EVGA have known about it.
Come on EVGA, this is just straight out incompetence.

I have had this same problem for months now and I think I just solved it two days ago. If you have a PC (I have an jet engine, I mean a "gaming" laptop, so I have access to a touchpad which does not seem to interfere with this process) set shortcuts on the top of your desktop so you can do this quickly with the tab key, not tapping it a thousand times. I went into the device manager and uninstalled every other mouse driver, even the HID ones. EVERYTHING in the mouse drivers. I uninstalled the Unleashed software too. Then I went to the EVGA page and downed Unleashed and opened it. Nothing shows in the software since there are no drivers. Then I plugged the X15 and it appeared instantly. I have not had a single disconnect since. The mouse would disconnect randomly and when I made a flickshot or lift the mouse itself. Now it is a normal ****ing mouse again. The only thing I cannot explain is why the **** the keyboard and mouse turn on sometimes when my laptop is off with the lid closed. I have tried freaking everything but this is not the forum for that issue. I hope this really helps anyone. GGs.

Bacon.

Its been too long, I already ditched this company.  I bet they are still thinking why we should care about this cheap product we mass produced in China that serve no real purpose except to annoying buyers, its not gonna hurt the company at all.  You know what? its already hurting you!

I have switched to other mmo mouse and got used to it already, never gonna look back on this most annoying mouse ever again.  a few months ago I was on the market for a VCard and there is one that caught my eye but then I deliberately decline to buy it because its Evga and bought one from MSI instead simply because I hate this mouse and have no faith in EVGA.  Yesterday I ordered a motherboard from Newegg for upgrade and I cross out all EVGA brand in search.  They have lost me as a customer, I think for good.  I don't care if they can fix the mouse issue tonight because I don't use it anymore and do not care anymore.  i suggest you guys do the same.

I have been having this issue for months. No fix from the company, EVGA has lost lots of credibility over such a small issue. We need some individual to get involved here. To get us a class action to make them buy all the mice back at full price+. Since they are incapable of fixing this issue in nearly a year.

I'm still getting random disconnects and I'm 100% certain that it comes down to a poor quality USB cable because when you move/jiggle the cable, the mouse disconnects. The same thing happened with the first X15 I bought too. The scroll wheel is still absolutely unusable which makes it worthless for most games and even browsing the internet.

Absolute junk.

Honestly I have had disconnects but not recently after firmware updates. For my keyboard I did have it disconnect but that was when a Windows update was telling me it needed a restart so I don’t really hold EVGA responsible for that.

It definitely takes going into the EVGA unleashed and to the mouse settings to make sure the software is updated as is the firmware but the mouse and keyboard have both been good and well worth the price I paid.

Of course when it was bad I did move the mouse to the front ports making it easier to unplug.

As for moving the cable causing it to disconnect that sounds like a possible short. I would wonder if it is the motherboard port causing it or if maybe it’s the cable. Regardless of what brand of mouse you use you might want to consider getting something like a mouse cable bungee to make sure you are not causing a short in the cable. Regardless of the brand of mouse they can make a mouse last longer without a shirt in the cable.

2 different computers, 2 separate X15's. I've tried all of the USB ports. It's the mice.
All of the firmware is up to date. My Logitech G502 works perfectly.

It's absolutely poor design. I had to pull keys off my Z20 and scrape away the excess plastic left over from manufacture in order to stop keys sticking.

I just want to share here what "worked for me" so far and has worked on both desktop + laptop, it's been about a week on both. Get rid of EVGA Unleash - really, just do it.
I didn't care about the additional buttons, i just wanted that ring finger click and this was the only other mouse aside from my g600 that had it (without it being one of those weird ergo mice for hundreds of dollars). So I sent up what I needed for my ring finger button - tbh i just use it as a replacement for middle click. I did set up another button too just to test and my mouse does still have the memory for both the ring finger click and the 9 (which was the test button i set up). Hasn't given me the random disconnects so far so hopefully this helps others or at least makes it better because on mine at some point it would disconnect multiple times per hour. I decided to try it because I noticed that I wasn't having disconnecting issues on the mouse i used on my laptop after i reformatted and didn't install Unleash since the mouse still functioned as I wanted it to - and i don't care about changing the lights and whatnot - I had bought 2 of them and even when I switched them around, the issue only happened when Unleash was installed on both machines (windows 11 on both).

hopefully this helps, good luck

I have had good luck with the modern Unleashed software. I will admit that wasn't always the case but the latest Unleashed software hasn't for me had random disconnects. I think that it's going to be more important to use unleashed in the future to upgrade firmware on the mouse but I guess if it's working for you then the point of firmware updates is moot as long as you check the forum often and know what changes and fixes might be released.

I Just keep a USB extension cable plugged into the pc.. When I have the multitude of disconnects I unplug the mouse for a minute. Then reconnect the mouse AFTER I load up my game(PUBG). It seems to work after I do that, even after I exit.

Got a THIRD new x15 February 19, 2023

April 7th 2023 the new x15 is already disconnecting at the rate a 1 year old one did, several times an hour.

When absolutely no mouse input is given the mouse will disconnect while afk, so not sure how it could be poor cabling.

At this point I'm sticking the one I have in a box and returning it for a new one. Not dealing with the annoying RMA ticket process where they pretend the issue with these mice is completely unknown unless I spend days responding to a chat rep and only then I have the pleasure of paying to ship it back.

Thanks a ton for the hard work being put in to make a wired mouse not constantly lose connection and make the software completely crash as if we are in the 1970s.

Re: X15 random disconnects? 2023/04/15 20:23:20 (permalink)
At some point... I would take a firmware update without RGB working or reflex just to get it working right.  Using USBdeview.exe I see sometimes the mouse sets a StartAchieved registry key sometimes it does not.  Sometimes disconnecting first at Parent IDs ending 001 002.  But, that was the previous firmware.  This new firmware always gives me the "Device Descriptor Request Failed" error.

I got this mouse roughly a year ago and am getting the disconnect issue at least once a day. Has anyone RMA'd it and received a functional one in return or are they all broken?

I have already tried the latest firmware and am currently on 1.28. On the latest version it would behave slightly differently when disconnecting but it would still end up doing it.
