I have both. Just booted back up on my 12900k. Flashed another bios position to 2.01 and its working again. Yes I had cleared CMOS the first time. 2nd time from the bios flash button it was obviously impossible.

2.02 just indicates there is no RAM in the machine or its defective. That's a real improvement. Dumpster fire.
did you get it to work yet?

Great, I think I bent a pin in all the CPU shuffling. No idea how I did that. I'm screwed. Thanks EVGA for your worthless support.

This issue we've root caused and will be fixed shortly via another BIOS update.  Sorry about that.

Sorry to hear that, and I'm sure that's really frustrating.  Please take a minute to take 3-4 good pictures of the socket from different angles, send an email to our Customer Service team at support@evga.com, and I'll follow up with this in the morning to see if we can help.

By using the USB drive and flash button on the back? Which bios? I just tried reflashing 2.02. Same result. Then I tried 2.01, but all I get is code E4.

file needs to be called "EVGAE698.bin"

So, for the "without CPU" flash, BIOS update flash, recovery flash, etc., these are the basic steps for Z690:

1.  Use a USB stick formatted to FAT32 (the included USB drive with the motherboard is fine).
2.  Download your BIOS from the website, unzip it, and rename it to "EVGAE69X.bin", with the X being "9" for the DARK KPE, and "8" for Classified.
3.  Put the renamed BIOS file on the root of the USB stick.
4.  Put the USB stick into the USB 2.0 Type-A port.
5.  Make sure the system is off, and also make sure the power supply is switched off.  Discharge any remaining power by pressing the power button on the motherboard.
6.  Switch the power supply back on.  With the system still off, hold the BIOS Update button for 2.5 seconds until it starts to count down, then continue to hold it until the POST LED starts cycling.
7.  The process can take up to 7 minutes.  Once finished, it should reboot automatically.

I don’t really know how to ask this but here it goes. Are you guys confident in 2.03? I don’t mean guaranteeing a fix, but are you guys at least confident that it is the fix? I’m quite far away from any EVGA distribution point so I’d definitely not be too keen on a 1-2 month RMA.

Well, he did call it a Beta bios.  lol  That said, I had to use 2.03 to recover both my 2.02 flashed bios slots (3rd is on 2.01).  I'm on one of the 2.03 iterations now and only beginning my test past for stability. . . but hey, it boots.  :-D

I take it that means you at least got one of the borked chips to respond again with 2.01? That’s good at least, but I am truly sorry about the bent pin for all that that’s worth. I hope EVGA is willing to help you out.

I mean that’s great to hear!? That’s awesome news. If 2.03 can recover the bricked BIOS chips I regard that as a major win. Would mean no harm no foul then. Well as much as you can call temporarily bricking customer boards for a few hours no harm (with all due respect).

Oh, 2.01 was already on all 3.  I flashed 2.02 to second position, borked.  Then booted with 2.01 to try and reflash 2.02 on the borked position and I forgot to hit the switch, so ended with a second borked position.  3rd time's the charm.  It was already on 2.01 as well (updated all 3 after confirming stability for me).  Used that to recover the 2x 2.02 positions by hot flashing 2.03 to each.

That said, use your bios switch to get into windows.  While in windows, flip the bios switch back to the one that's got 2.02 on it and flash the 2.03.  It may not be confirmed stable, but it should at least boot and recover that bios position for you.

Curiously while this BIOS went up I had load shedding (we have load shedding here), and it was late so I went to sleep. After I woke up I checked the forum for no apparent reason and came to find this situation unfolding. I guess I got very lucky but all of my chips are currently on 2.01.

Update on the 4090 FE issue.  Long story short, it seems the RTX 4090 needs a driver update after getting into Windows, and Fast Boot is blocking this from occurring.

Please give these troubleshooting steps a try:  https://forums.evga.com/RTX-4090-FE-No-Display-issue-Troubleshooting-m3583341.aspx

*Edit - One final note:  With the RTX 4090 FE, you will still need to go into Windows and allow Windows to update the card before the BIOS may show picture.  After this occurs, you should be able to reboot and get to the BIOS.  Let us know if you're still struggling.

Dad-gum. Relying on Windows to update something on a hardware level is just such an effed up approach. Relying on Winduhz to do anything to, for, or with, hardware is really messed up. Micro$lop can't even keep its own house in order. It makes me cringe and want to vomit to think they would be trusted to manage firmware or hardware.

But, thank you for the info. I am sure it will be priceless to 4090 owners that have no display output in the BIOS.

40-series NVIDIA launch would have been so much better with EVGA's influence. I have purchased exclusively EVGA graphics cards for a very long time. The idea of buying a different brand is unsettling to me, and I haven't yet because I do not like or trust the other OEMs.

At this point, that information is outdated and maybe I should go back and update to the hotfix link.  At the time, this is what NVIDIA advised us to have customers try, but they later determined that a hotfix was needed.
